I first bought this NEW 30 Oz. (OUNCE) MALT CUP, MILKSHAKE CUP, BLENDER CUP, COCTAIL MIXING CUP, STAINLESS STEEL, COMMERCIAL GRADE, because it does LOOK S_O much like the cannister used in the malted-making machine, at the "candy shop", where my mom would take my sister and me after school, from the time I first entered school, to the time when we were ages seven and nine, repectively, (at which time, we moved to Queens, where there was NO candy-store near the school):Like many baby-boomers, I have a deep sense of nostalgia -- and this stainless-steel container certainly fits the bill. I have seen many, (many!), stainless-steel milkshake containers on Amazon....and it's been so long since I was nine, that I can't really remember EXACTLY what the stainless steel container used at the candy-shop looked like. I seem to remember it may have been LARGER than 30 ounces, (approximateu 16 ounces of malted for me, 16 ounces of malted for my sister -- and a little left over) - but I have not seen any 48 ounce stainless steel malted-making containers on Amazon. (Perhaps those glasses at the candy-shop only held 12 ounces each....?)Anyway, if this particular malted cup is not the exact one that was used in the Brooklyn candy-shop, it is a very reasonable facimilie. (I have not gotten a complete malted making mixer, because I already own several blenders, which do that job -- and others -- very well.)THIS malted cup is nice and shiny on the outside, and has a "matte finish" interiour. There are markings on the outside: two small horizontal indentations for, I would estimate, levels of eight and twelve ounces, respectively, (which are repeated on opposite sides of the container, making a total of four); and four, long equal-distant vertical indentations, (similar to those found on many glass and plastic blender containers), to help the liquid within mix better. Also, unlike some other stainless-steel cups, it has a nice "V" shaped design, being wider at the top than at the bottom .-- similar in design to the famous "Windsor Saucepan" design. This wider-at-the-top-narrower-at-the-bottom design makes hand-washing a whole lot easier, and speeds up both the mixing, (and, for Windsor Saucepans), the cooking process!I recently read, in an advertisement sent by mail to me, for an alkalizing caraf, that it was made of "alkalizing stainless steel". Of course, this caraf -- which, with the addtional alkalizing apparatus at its bottom, amounts to an actual alkalizing-APPLIANCE -- is quite expensive. Not only that, the bottom portion of "alkalizing minerals", must be changed every so often. I don't own this appliance, (relying instead on some nifty little alkalizing "booster" drops in a 1.2 ounce squeeze bottle) -- but, from the illustration on the package, I also get the idea that this appliance-container is kind of heavy. If stainless steel -- along with all its other virtues of cleanliness, light weight and, (in this container), a nice, large capacity of 30 ounces -- indeed DOES alkalize what's inside of it, I have yet ANOTHER reason to like my "malted-memory" container. As of now, I drink all my liquids from it, whether I mix them in different, (glass) containers first, or mix them right in this container. This malted-memor cup has a nice bottom, which is a re-inforcement of a smaller cup, placed around the bottom, so that TWO layers of stainless steel are at the very bottom. NO "seams" of any kind are visible, inside this container, ( and only one -- showing that the encompassing, reinforcing mini-cup has been added at the bottom), shows on the outside of this container. This shows that the appelation, "Commerical Grade" was not given lightly, and, of course, no inside seams means more cleanliness! The top rim of this Milkshake Cup, is nicely rounded, and makes for excellent drinking comfort. Of necessity, it is rolled over, and thus a slight area where dirt MIGHT collect is created. This thus is the ONLY area of this cup that needs a second, and more thorough cleaning.Sadly, I notice that, like stainless steel pots and pans, a slight darkening of the container occurs upon use. More through claning -- and perhaps a night's bath in diluted lemon juice, will probably clean this up nicely.Sturdy, nostalgic, and possibly alkalizing -- this light-to-carry 30 ounce container seems perfect for ANY drink. Buy several for your next party! To your health!

Frivolous Purchase? Nah! Very Nice Accessory!
While I didn't feel I really *needed* this Blender Cup, I was intrigued with the possibilities. And so, I purchased one along with a new Kitchen Aid Hand Blender. Am I ever glad I did!We make a lot of smoothies in our kitchen, and this cup makes it easy to do so. It is just the right size for two, and works well for other things as well. It may mix up yogurt or kefir with fruit & honey in the morning, and then make mayonnaise in the afternoon. Clean up is a breeze, and it looks smart sitting with my other gear.Since this is really a rather inexpensive tool, why not give it a try?!

A very nice cup
My only complaint is that the one I received seem to have either some gum or a surface defect about one-third of the way down the inside, and covering an area the size of a quarter. When I'm cleaning the cup (I use it for shakes, smoothies, gruel, etc.), I'm always drawn to the gum, erroneously thinking it's food that's stuck on. Wish I could get it off....UPDATE: 11 May 2014: Well, the gum has worn away, but despite daily use, the cup is good as new - attractive, untarnished, smooth, easily cleaned, quick drying, comfortable to the lip, fits reasonably well in my relatively small adult (man) hand. I would buy this cup again without hesitation if I ever need another one. I've left the review at 4 stars due to the initial challenges with the gum.

Perfect for making smoothies
While not a fancy product, it performs the intended purpose well. I bought this for making smoothies, which is about all it's ever used for. That said, it is great for that purpose. It has measurements on the sides of the container, making it easy to know how much liquid you're adding. The immersion blender fits nicely inside the cup and the cup is deep enough to allow room for mixing. The stainless steel construction makes it easy to clean with no worries of rust.

So far so good...
I've been using the cup daily for a few weeks now. I've only used it for making milkshakes using an immersion blender (works OK) and a hand mixer (works perfectly). I've not had any problems at all. It seems well made and it cleans easily staying nice and shiny.I've read through the other reviews here and see the cup might not fit all drink mixers. More worrying is the complaints of rust and eventual holes in the cup. I see no hint of any wear or damage but will revisit this review if I ever run into problems. For now - very nice for making milkshakes with a hand mixer.

Yummy smoothies !!
This little malt cup is of high quality, arrived in speedy time and I love using it to make smoothies with my immersion blender which I also ordered from Amazon site. This malt cup reminds me of the "old time" soda shops that used to use these. When I make the smoothies in it, it holds alot of ingredients and I many times will just eat the results right out of the cup because it keeps them really nice and cold. The price was fantastic on this also. In fact, I liked this so much I'm considering buying more of them for gifts.
