Black & Decker Space Saver Under Cabinet Electric Can Opener (EC59D)

I had an older version from 30 years ago that finally died. The price for the older one was under a $100 at 30 years usage it was great. With this being over $200 and if it lasts 30 years it will be great also.

I was surprised to find no install instructions and no operation instructions. Another issue was the bolts the came with the can opener were not the right size / thread size to use on the opener and base mount. Not sure why no paper work came with the can opener. I was under the impression that this product was new in the box from the manufacturer. I have never had this issue on any products purchased in the past .Don Smith

This is a great under counter can opener. This was not a "modern" one, but a new, old one. It works well.

I love this can opener. It replaces the exact same one that I bought in 1988 (for $14.99!!). Couldn't find this model in stores, but I saw one pictured in a box on Amazon. One reviewer said it was "essentially the same one she needed to replace." That reviewer said it was the cutting blade that was dull, same as mine.So I ordered the new one, three days later it was here. All I had to do was slip the new one onto the already-mounted bracket (from the first identical opener). I could also have just used the new cutting blade since it easily comes out for cleaning. I had tried cleaning the blade but it still didn't work. Well after 26 years I'm not complaining. What an increase in price, tho! If the new one lasts as long as the first one I'm happy.

this is a replacement for an earlier one. HOWEVER, the item I received was a repackaged item not original mfg packaging. The screw items were loose and the bag had been torn open. The box its self was retaped serval time. It appears to never have been used so we will see.

I am SOOOO glad this was available....I had my old one since the 80's and the cutting edge just got worn out. This works just great...the only reason that I gave it 4 starts is because it was NOT new as described. They don't make them as good as this is now.

it is a spcesaver and easy to use

The screws were not long enough to go through the cabinet, so we haven’t been able to install. Looks like it’s been on the shelf for 50 years. The paper instructions booklet is yellow with age, as is the box. The opener itself has yellowed. Clearly a very old model, and for the price, I think ridiculous. You would think for the price it would be in gold.
