Well designed porcelain kettle
Had this kettle for a month now, and it is a great little kettle. In our house, it is mainly used to heat water for a french press, and it works great for that purpose. The whistle is loud and easy to hear from other rooms. The kettle seems to heat evenly, and retains heat well. The construction is sturdy and with high quality materials; empty, it is heavier than my old copper bottom revere ware kettle, even though it is a smaller capacity, which I attribute to the different construction materials. We use the kettle on a ceramic cooktop, so the porcelain exterior is great because it won't damage the ceramic stove. The spout flips open and stays open, which is very helpful. The lid fits securely, and is easy enough to remove for filling. Our kitchen faucet has a high arch of its own, so because the kettle handle also arcs over the top, we have to hold the kettle at a slight angle when filling. Not a big deal and not annoying. If your faucet has a less pronounced arch, you may have an easier time filling. As long as you don't over-fill the kettle (it has a fill line marked on the exterior, and it's common sense -- don't fill so much that there's water in the spout already) then the kettle won't spit. If you enjoy seeing the kettle spit boiling water, by all means, fill beyond capacity and see what happens -- just keep the kids and kitties away or it'll be a blistery lesson learned. ;)

Gorgeous, Classicc and Functional
This is our second, after I dropped the first on the handle, which dented the kettle and cracked the enamel so it flaked off. After a few years, I had to replace the hinge pin with an aluminum nail after the plain steel pin rusted and fell apart. I'm hoping they've realized the flaw and used something that won't rust in the newer one.Using a gas stove, the handle will get too hot to hold if you boil a cupful of water until it whistles, or heat a larger amount. Just grab a towel to hold it with.

Love tihis tea kettle
Looks great with my orange Kuerig and what I found most amazing (because I use it a couple times a day and we have a lot of minerals in out water) is how easy it was to clean the inside. I did not even have to use lemon juice and baking soda. Scrubbed with a soft bristle brush and used a little vinegar and it was clean in no time. Great teakettle. Perfect size for making a pot of tea.

Terrible Teakettle
I'm really disappointed in this teakettle. The Good: well, the orange color is nice and really 'pops' in my kitchen. The Bad: the little spout thing needs to be flipped open by you when you're ready to pour, and sometimes it sticks. Trust me, this is not something you want when your fingers are close to water that's just been boiled. The Ugly: 1) the handle gets really hot after water has been boiled - like, too hot to hold with your bare hands. I have to wrap a dishtowel around it before I pick it up. This is a huge design flaw, in my opinion. 2) the lid is hard to pull off, as well, and the handle on mine was loose and needed to be tightened with a screwdriver. This was right out of the box.Overall, I'm sorry I purchased this teakettle.

Stylish tea pot
I've owned and used this teapot for about 6 months now. I've looked at some of the pervious reviews and I have not had any of the problems other reviewers have had. I'm not sure what I can say about a teapot other than it works. It holds the amount of water it says it does - which is just right for one or two cups at a time. The whistle is nice - not too loud, but I can hear it if I am in the same room or the next. I bought it in orange and it is just as pictured. The teapot is stylish and still looks good after several months of use.

Pleased, waiting to determine longevity
The quality of this kettle is excellent. The look and design is quite appealing and it has made a small, but noticeable improvement in the look of our kitchen. The test shall be the longevity of the kettle. We tend to buy the cheapest kettles available and my wife has the uncanny ability of burning one after another. Our decision to purchase this product was simply and solely in an attempt for a product that wouldn't crumble quickly from repeated use. If you are considering this review you should assume that the product continues to perform exceptionally. If it fails to do so, I will update the review. The only reason this didn't receive 5 stars is because its a tea-kettle. Nevertheless, overall, very satisfied.

I love the orange color
I love the orange color, but the the part that the tea spout is supposed to rest on when it's flipped open broke within two weeks. It works fine, but makes me nervous about overall construction.

I love my Rachael Ray teakettle.
I read the reviews and I started not to purchase this kettle, however I was hooked because it was orange and that is my favorite color. My teakettle came to me in prefect shape. The size is a little smaller than expected, but that was not a issues for me. And yes the teakettle whistles. After 3 months this tea kettle was in the garbage. All the parts broke off and the paint started chipping... What a waste of money.
