I was looking for a sturdy pair of cooking tongs. I'm disappointed by inferior products made of pressed sheet metal, perhaps with a silicone coating. The tips often don't close well for a firm grip on food at the tip of the tongs. Although these tongs are advertised as ice tongs, they are excellent for cooking. The construction is sturdy with no question about whether heavier food items will bend the tongs or slip out. The teeth on the tongs maintains a very firm grip. While these ice tongs are a little short for cooking where there is high heat, I still love their performance. I've bought several pairs for my kitchen ... and I don't even own an ice bucket! Good price, great product.

This isn't my first ice tong, but I believe it may be my last. This is because it just works, well. The blade lock is reliable and easy, the size is perfect, the handle no-slip, the grip on the ice is sure. How many times have you dropped a piece or two of ice while trying to move the ice from bowl to drink glass? I haven't dropped any with this pair.They also look nice, with great design. If you are looking for something that works, buy these. If you are looking for something with a stupid design made out of silver with uncomfortable twisty handles, buy something else.

I LOVE these! I use them for cooking and grilling. Most of the food tongs have the rubber tips, you can't grab a steak easily and flip with those, the steak (or whatever) slips off the rubbery ends, these grab chicken parts, etc, surly and securely to flip and turn. I would like them in a range of lengths, but I couldn't find them at all until I realized they are marketed as *ice* tongs rather than food tongs!

We have a counter top ice maker which we love but I disliked having people put their hands into the ice catch. We tried using other tongs but most don't have any way to grip the ice. These tongs have grips that really hold the ice. This isn't a major issue in life but these really do make things a little nicer.

Oxo quality and design is spot on with these tongs. They have a large toothed gripping area which actually delivers ice to you glass instead of the floor. It easily grabs a couple of moon shaped cubes at once so you don't feel like a debutant trying to gingerly balance one small sliver of ice at a time into your glass with some pointless silver clamshell job. Ice needs claws, teeth and sharp points to bend it to your will. Dominate the ice with a set of these tongs and enjoy your cool beverage before the game ends.
