Zen Ten Smart Curl Automatic Hair Curler

My sister swears by her automatic hair curler and used it a couple of times on my daughters hair so what did my daughter want the other day - you guessed it one of these!I have never heard of the brand Zen until now but have been told this is a really good brand and their products are well worth the retail price.The first thing I noticed was how stylish it looked, it comes with a UK plug, had a decent size lead (length) however I did expect them to be wireless.We found these a little harder to use and handle as the lead just seemed to get in the way, they were quite heavy compared to others we have used, however we did find some excellent you tube videos to help and give us some tips on using them as the instructions was a bit unless.They are Good quality if you are looking for a style with a lead but to be fair if I’m honest you can buy a cheaper ones which are wireless and offers the same finish.

A good solid device with OK instructions. I did find it a little awkward to use on myself because my arms and back began to ache. You can't put large sections of hair into the device the sections need to be quite fine. Working on someone else's hair would be easier for me and I'd be abk8to get it nearer to the hair roots too.It does take a bit of getting used to and I was nervous about my hair being sucked in and me not being able to release my hair. I needn't have worried though as its easier to release the hair than it is fir the hair to be sucked in (until you get the knack of it).The resulting curls are ringlet type, if you don't like ringlets then once you've finished just run your hands through your hair to break up the ringlets then the curls will be more voluminous and bouncy.I think for £79.99 I'd expect a cordless device which is more user friendly than a corded device. That said this product is well made and not at all flimsy.

Pros- the curler looks really stylish and feels high quality.- it has a mains UK plug and a reasonably long lead. Some people may obviously prefer a wireless curler but I never remember to recharge beauty gadgets so they don't work when I need them.- once you have learned how it works it is generally easy to use. You just feed your hair into the chamber and it curls it for you. If you are someone who regularly burns yourself with hair tongs because you are uncoordinated you may find this easier.Cons- I feel the style of curls it produces are quite limited. It is hard to get the curler near to your roots and the curler gives you ringlet-style curls. You basically end up with that overdone red carpet look with straight hair near the roots and ringlet-y wavy curls near the bottom. Obviously, a lot of people love this look but I do feel that conventional hair tongs allow you to be more versatile, especially as so many come with attachments.- I do feel this curler is quite expensive for what it is. It is good quality but you can buy normal hair tongs with multiple attachments from top brands for less than this. If you love automatic hair curlers this might be worth buying as I am sure it will last for years. I would not bother spending this much otherwise especially as so many companies are now making automatic hair curlers.

comes in a lovely box which makes it ideal for a gift; this is a bulky product! I was surprised at how large and chunky it actually was! My daughter tested this for me; she didn't read the instructions and dived right in. It took a few false starts and a couple of tantrums before she got the hang of it but once she did it seemed to work ok (I looked at the instructions and to be honest don't think they would have made much difference!)Cheaper than some of the branded ones out there but works just as well.
