Are these for making the kind of spring rolls that are deep fried??

Very late to answer but yes, they can be deep fried. to minimize oil splashing and damage to the wrap, place wrapped rolls in the refrigerator uncovered for a few hours (I allow 3-5 hours total) to allow the rice paper to dry a bit. They should feel dry, not tacky- even plastic-y to the touch. I flip mine so the other side dries as well. Even better if they are held refrigerated until the next day. Much less splattering, sticking together in the pan, and rolls crisp up beautifully and hold their crunch after crying.
