A coffee table book that's smart, too!
It's Formula 1 presented in all of its glory. I waited 5 months to get this back order. I figured that if I could survive the off season, then I could survive the wait. Glad I did! Each chapter is organized around a specific team, for instance Lotus, Ferrari or McLaren. Each chapter provides a brief history of the team's development, along with fabulous photography of the car as it evolved, and the impact of particular investors, designers, engineers and owners. The book does not provide a detailed spec of each car each year; it is not a technical manual. If you are looking for that, you are in the wrong place. However, if you can't get enough F1 and want something to enjoy as a warm up to race day, then you are in the right spot!

A beautiful book
I'd been wanting to get this gook for a while after getting his book "The Art of the Supercar", and I wasn't disappointed with the quality of the printng or the photography. The text is also quite good, and I was happy with his choice of cars, including my favorites - the Tyrrell P34, Ferrari 312T3, the Williams FW07, McLaren MP4/4 and Jordan 191. But I was surprised not to see the Lotus 78 and Brabham BT49, or perhaps the Ferrari 641 - particularly since the Ferrari is part of the Museum of Modern Art's collection - in the book. Only so much room, I suppose.

Photography is exceptional.
In a prior review, I rated this book only 2 stars. My apologies. I had confused this book with another. This book, "The Art of The Formula 1 Race Car" is exceptional. Any F1 fan will thoroughly enjoy!!

Great Man Gift
I have no idea what makes a good F1 book, so trusted the reviews and it paid off big. My BF is a huge F1 fan and LOVED this book. He enjoyed learning the history of some of the older cars and the visuals were lovely. My only issue is that when I received mine, it looked like there were greasy fingerprints on the jacket, but otherwise great.

Visual feast
Gorgeous and detailed full-color photographs show every angle and stylistic nuance of Formula 1's most iconic cars. Readers should also enjoy Gordon Murray's insightful insider commentary at the end of each chapter. In addition to the detailed automobile images and technological insights, the descriptions of the main drivers who helped realize these machines' full potential along with some of their pivotal battles adds some welcome perspective. A great read as well as a visual feast.

Beautiful pages!
I got this as a gift for my significant other. He LOVED it, and I actually did too. The photographs are beautiful, and there is a lot of very cool information. A great coffee table book or collectible to keep on the shelf. Very good quality and worth every penny!

Big beautiful book
Stunning large color photos from many angles. Any 'car' person will be taken on the ultimate photo tour of the most expensive and exotic four wheel machines in the world.Sure, F-1 race cars are machines only the ultra rich can afford but this beautiful book allows 'everyman' to stand where and see what these people's billions have helped create. It is the next best thing to an all inclusive pit pass to an actual F-1 race. More---more please
