I use this lighter for pipe smoking and it works great as long as you take care of it and spend some time learning a little about how it works. When I first received it, I filled it and immediately started pulling the match piece out repeatedly trying to get it to light. That was mistake number one. The wick needs time to absorb the lighter fuel before it will reliably light. A little critical thought would have saved me some frustration there. You also need to keep the wick trimmed. After some use the end will become frayed and caked with carbon, so it will be resistant to lighting. Just pulling the wick out a bit and trimming the black part solves this.So, because of these two mistakes, after only a month or so of use it suddenly stopped producing a spark. I took it apart and examined everything and it looked OK. There was still visible flint left, but adjusting and tweaking did no good. As a last resort, I replaced the flint with one of several spares that comes with the lighter and just like that, the lighter jumped to life on the first strike.So, I now understand that the flint wears down somewhat quickly with repeated use. It may look like it's still good, but when it quits sparking that means it's done. Constantly pulling the match to check if it's filled, impress your friends, or whatever needlessly shortens your flint's life.All that said, I love this little lighter. My problems were related to user error and not any issue with product quality. It looks cool and works great, just take some time to familiarize yourself with it and read the instructions that come with it. It will serve you well.

It’s a very mediocre lighter. If you want this style of lighter for a collection or a gift, it’s very nice. But if you want an actual usable lighter, I’d recommend almost anything else. It goes easy from any slight wind, difficult to use at times ( a quick tip, hold the the whole thing at a sideways angle and then pull the match part out and after 1-3 try’s it would light). I don’t forsee this thing braking anytime soon, so it has some decent durability. But the value of it is mediocre at best. I think it’s the best you can find on Amazon, but if you look at other websites you might some better options. The wick runs a very long time, and the lighter fluid last a decent time compared to a zippo or any other lighter than runs on lighter fluid. But the lighter fluid runs out fairly quick considering the rubber stoppers that are everywhere on it. And it’s sometimes a chore to light it. Wick is easy to replace and so is the fluid. If it was $15-$20 I’d love this product. But ~$30 for something so mediocre is very disappointing. It comes pre weathered, so it has some scratches built into the metal plus a protective coat over top, which is a nice touch. This is a perfect decorative piece, or an occasional usages piece. But as a somewhat regular usage piece, I’d look for better, if you can’t find better go with this one, as it does work, it’s just not the best I’ve had.

Bought as a gift, brother loved it. It's very cool and he loves showing it off. Excellent, looks vintage, works like new. Great value and fantastic gift.

It basically stopped striking the flint after a week. I replaced it but it doesn’t feel the same. It’s like the match/rod doesn’t make contact any more. It also ran out of fluid every day. I used it only in the evening woodworking in my outbuilding so it wasn’t overused… it looks cool and seemed like a good product at first.

This has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it, it's so smooth. The weight feels nice. It's a little difficult to refill with fluid, but that's not a huge problem.The issue is there are NO REPLACEMENT WICKS ANYWHERE. I wish I had dug into the reviews more before I bought, since it seems this is a common issue. It comes with one perfectly-sized wick but once that runs out, finding a replacement is impossible. The size of market replacement wicks are too large. You'd think that would be a business opportunity for them and they could sell their own, specialty-sized wicks, but no. I've tried a number of other options, but none seem to fit.The only real solution I've found is to take a much larger wick and shove a small piece of it it in. That gives you a little bit of time before you need to do it again. Very strange they didn't seem to measure the wick size or sell a replacement option (especially since it comes with one perfectly-sized wick, just sell those!). So, if you buy it, be prepared to find a makeshift solution once the one wick runs out.

I've carried this lighter for over 5 months and I can positively say this lighter is worth it!You only need to refill it every 3 weeks or so but I use it for pilot lights at work so it doesn't get regular use so it probably lasts longer for me than most.I've had no problems with it once I got used to the refilling process, I have had the flint stop lighting for whatever reason but it came with about 4 spare flints to switch out.Very slick design that has gotten me lots of compliments.
