metal hub was not built to the correct dimensions
the outside of the pulley was fine but the inside dimension was the same size as the bearing bolt. so I could not slide the pulley onto the bearing shaft. Also the length of the steel hub was too long and would not allow proper tightening of the axle bolt to the bracket. the solution for me was to polish the inside of the hub bearing, in order to get some tolerance between the hub and the bearing shaft. then I had to grind the ends of the steel hub down to I could make the correct connection, and make sure the pulley would spin on the axle and that I could tighten the nut enough to make sure the assembly would not fall off.

Worked as expected.
I used this while doing a repair on our 17 year old Amana washing machine I pulled back out of my scrap pile while waiting for whirlpool repairman to fix our 3 month old whirlpool washer. I did have to take a sanding roll and hone the bushing out a little for fit.

Doesn't replace WP40045001. Shaft is too tight and too long.
I bought this to replace a cracked WP40045001 on my washing machine and it did not fit. Just like another user said, the inner sleeve was too tight and too long to fit where the old one fit just fine. Since my washing machine was all apart and I didn't want to wait a few days before I could use it again I spent half an hour modifying this one to fit, but I shouldn't have had to do anything.Bottom line, if you want a simple direct replacement, don't buy this one.If you feel adventurous, plan for a little bit of sanding the inside of the sleeve to make it fit on the shaft, and more sanding to shorten the sleeve. The steel sleeve is about 1mm too long, so I could not get the snap ring back in the groove. (The sleeve actually sticks out the sides of the pulley since it is too long.) I shortened the sleeve with coarse sandpaper, which took a few attempts to make sure it would spin freely without being too loose once I clipped on the snap ring. Then I used finer sandpaper to clean off the rough edges so it wouldn't chew up the plastic washer over time. It seems to be working fine now, but I'm still annoyed that I had to modify it so much.
