Amazing!
I absolutely LOVE this hair straightener. I read about it in The New York Times Style Section and immediately bought it. The price was amazing, and the product is amazing! Personally, I do not use it on my whole head just the small front sections of "baby hairs" that tend to stick out or frizz. Heats up quickly and evenly, makes hair smooth and soft and incredibly shiny. Cannot recommend enough! If you are in need of a straightener do not hesitate!

new life for me and my hair.
I have fine, thin, straight hair about 3 inches past my shoulders long. I used to use a 10 yr old large barrel curling iron to straighten my hair but it would leave it frizzy and not smooth looking. I've also used another band 1 inch straightener that did the same thing. A friend recommended this straightener to me. It leaves my hair very smooth and straight. if I use it right after washing and blow dying my hair I have to go over the pieces a time or two in some spots (I think due to a little dampness), but it's not a huge deal. The best advantage of this straightener though is that I'm no longer tied to getting the best style for my hair right after a wash and blow dry like before. Having thin hair (in my case anyways) means it goes flat and dirty looking quite easily.Pros Examples:I can wash my hair the night before, sleep on it wet, wake up with crazy lumps and cowlicks and kinks and waves and this straightener will take them all out. I used to have to blow dry my hair before going to bed to avoid the craziness but that's not necessary now - sometimes I still do to have a little more body in my hair in the morning. But this has allowed me to wear my hair down much more often than I used to.I work in an underground coal mine - half underground, half in an office. Recently I had plans right after work and was expecting to be in the office all day so I did my hair before work. I unexpectedly got called to go down in the mine which meant I had to wrap my hair up in a knot and put my hard hat on for a few hours. The only thing I had time to do before my after work engagement was to run the straightener through my hair - but it took out hair tie kinks and redirected the way my hair was laying and I was very happy. I had lost a little body from tying it up and wearing my hard hat, but I was able to straighten and smooth it.I have a 2 year old son and am on a tight schedule most the time - this straightener allows me to get the most out of my hair washes and prep time, and to me that's the most important. One con: I am on my second straightener. The first one lasted 6 months. The current one has lasted 2 months. I'm not sure if the first one was defective - my new one has a much brighter digital display than the last one. What happened to my last one was it quit heating up past a certain degrees and then it wouldn't stay on. I think I read there's a 1 year warranty maybe, but I had thrown the box away and I wanted a new one immediately so I just bought a new one. This issue is the reason why I'm giving it 4 and not 5 stars.

Cricket or Centrix??
I've only had this a couple days and so far I am liking it. However, I'm a little confused...I thought I was ordering a Centrix flat iron but when I received the order, nothing on the box says it is a Centrix. It says Cricket. Is a Cricket made by Centrix? If anyone has a clue, let me know! Thanks!

Should have expanded my horizons...
I bought this certain flat iron because I had one like it for 3 years that I loved, but it broke so I needed to replace it. I decided not to switch to a new brand of straightener (CHI, GHI, etc.) because I stick with what I know. Well, I am very displeased with by choice. I bought it, it arrived, I opened it and everything looked perfect and fine. The only thing that is weird is the smell that it gives off. It isn't that normal burning hair smell, its more like an electrical (not good) smell. I thought, maybe I should just use it and hopefully the smell is just temporary because it is new and all. Well its been over a month and it hasn't gone away and it doesn't do as good of job at straightening my hair as my previous one. It sucks that you only have like 1 month to return or get a replacement; not enough time to try out thing, especially if you don't straighten your hair every day and when you are busy with life; the last thing on your mind is exchanging/returning an item you bought from amazon. It's quite a process when you got life going on. Since its too late, hopefully the smell does in fact go away and hopefully (fingers crossed) it doesn't start my hair on fire! Wish me luck!

Works great!
I love my new flatiron. It's smooth and warms up quickly. The shape is great for straightening or adding a big of a curl under. My only complaint is that you have to push a button after plugging it in to turn it on, which adds an additional 5 seconds to my morning routine ;)

Flat iron broke...will replace it
Product functioned excellently for two months, then the flat iron would not turn on. The manufacturer has agreed to replace it. I am waiting for the replacement at this time. The product did an excellent job straightening my thick, wavy hair. I'm looking forward to getting the replacement.

really works
I recently bought this after reading about it in a magazine and I am blown away. I have a flat iron, but it makes my hair look like a 70's rocker. This one makes hair really smooth and shiny and neat, but without that weird, unnatural, ultra-straight look.
