Avatar Aang's Staff

My 9 year old nephew really wanted to go as Aang for Halloween and since his birthday is in October I decided to buy him the costume. Unfortunately I had a bit of trouble locating a costume in his size (I found out later this costume was in high demand this year). I ended up paying for the material and supplies needed to make him one at home, but I felt he was getting jipped so I decided to buy this toy as a prop for his costume, plus I figured he could use it after Halloween for fun. He loved it and it arrived in perfect time for Halloween. It gave his costume a more authentic look. The only complaint he had was that it wasn't as long as Aang's real staff, though I didn't expect it to be. Over all it is a great product.

We just purchased this staff for my son as part of a halloween costume. Needless to say, he's already enjoyed it immensely. He especially likes the whipping sounds it makes whenever he moves/tilts the staff. It makes for great imaginative play alone and with his playmates (or mom and dad!). He has some difficulty pushing the button hard enough to open up both the top and lower wings, but I can open both with ease. My son is only four and doesn't have a lot of hand strength yet. Still, he loves playing with it and we love to watch him have so much fun. I do question the 89.99 price tag. I ordered it from this site two weeks ago for 14.99, which I thought was a steal. I'd have paid a bit more for it, but certainly not more than $35-40.

I looked all over for this for my 3 yr old. He and his 15 yr old brother love Avatar and we have not been able to find any of the toys in stores. Amazon had it at a great price. When it arrived my 15 yr old was just as excited to give it to his brother as the little one was to get it. The 3 yr old runs around with it pretending to fly and fight firebenders. The quality is great. I know another reviewer said her son had trouble opening and closing it but I think hers may have been broken because my 3 yr old had it figured out in minutes. THe wings are actually much sturdier than I expected. I think this is going to be a favorite toy for a long time

This is one of the best made toys of it's type that I've seen in quite awhile. It is made for the 7 yr old's constant use and abuse. My Grandson (and I) are very pleased with it.

My Four year old son received this toy as a gift for his fourth birthday. This toy is not that heavy and works great. He can operate the glider feature just fine and has tons of fun with it. This toy is excellent for the 4 to 7 year olds and I would recommend it to any parent looking to make a great addition to any Avatar lover's collection!When the glider expands if you have a child who will want to ram the wings into a wall, I can see your concern. But if your child is like most, they will have a great time pretending to fly around the house like Aang. Putting the wings back in to make it a staff again, could be tricky, but not difficult. The wings fold up like an accordion and if handled too rough, like any toy, could break. (hence the 3 star for durable)Overall the staff/glider is cool and makes fun swoosh sounds as your kid runs around the house. The sound is not too loud and over all very tolerable.Your child will enjoy this toy.

This toy was purchased as a prop for our 4-year-old son's Halloween costume, but it has been so much more in the end. He has spent countless hours pretending to be an air-bender/the avatar, flying around the house, or batting at imaginary fire nation navy fireballs. He loved to pretend to airbend before, but this one toy has taken his play to a whole new level. I thought he'd love the costume, but he hasn't worn it since Halloween. The staff, though, has probably been in his hand daily since he received it. I've caught him sitting with it at his side having imaginary planning meetings with Sokka, Toph, and other allies. Suffice it to say, it has really lit the flame of his imagination.Some of the reviews I read before puchasing it mentioned that it might be too heavy or did not work, but my son manipulates it fine (he's 4 1/2), and both the sound effects (which you *can* turn off!) and the 2 sets of pop out wings have worked just fine.

It is a simple toy, nothing fancy. It makes wind noises and Avatar fans enjoy it pretending they fly on it. My kid's friends love it too. He got it for Christmas, 3 weeks ago so, I can't really comment on durability. We'll have to see how it does after a few months but, my kid definitely plays with it so, I'm glad to see it is not one of those toys that you kid opens, plays with it once and then ends up in a corner.

I would not generally purchase this type of toy, however my son is in love with all things Avatar and after several requests we purchased this as part of his Halloween costume. It does not disappoint and I am pleased that he seems to work all of the mechanics without struggle. He always uses it to assist his flying maneuvers - and thankfully NOT in battle against his older sisters. It's weight has not been an issue.
