Serious, solid, heavy safe. Not hard to install. 2 1/2 " deep inside.
The safe comes well packaged with only the combination, opening instructions and warranty info enclosed with it. You're on your own for installation, but that's pretty obvious and straightforward. (I did watch a YouTube video about installing wall safes.) It fits snugly between two studs on 16" centers. We made a template of the safe from cardboard and used that and a level to draw the hole to cut. It did take a little extra trimming and sanding of the drywall and studs to fit the safe in, mostly because of small welds on the sides of the safe, but we got it in there, with the flange flush with the wall. Used 2" 5/16 wood screw bolts with washers (not included) to secure it. Took an hour, maybe.The safe is heavy, thick steel. The combination lock is more complicated to unlock than, say, a Master lock you would use on your gym locker. Back and forth varying numbers of turns to your numbers until the safe unlocks and the knob becomes a handle to open it. After I had done it a few times, it got pretty easy but it's not fast and demands your concentration. Inside, there is not much space; the interior is about 12" X 14" and only about 2 1/2" deep. Don't be misled by the product description that says it is "4" deep". It is, but that's the entire safe, not the usable interior space.
