More channels; excellent TV picture
We have tried three different antenna models over the years and this one is the best, by far. It reaches more channels and provides excellent TV images compared to the others, even though I have it set up in the attic (the others were mounted on the chimney at an even higher elevation). This antenna was quite a bit more expensive than the others, but the results justify the cost. The only negative thing I can say is that this antenna is quite heavy and mounting it to the side of a house while working off of a ladder might be challenging for some.

Fantastic antenna!
This is a fantastic antenna if you want to receive free local TV stations if you live within a reasonable distance from the towers. But even more impressive was the tech support from the company! They actually answer the phone, and/or respond to emails, both rare to find in the year 2024.I installed this antenna in our attic and generally pointed it in the direction of where I thought the TV station antennas were located. I was immediately able to get a good signal for most of the stations in our area, but 1 major station was not being received. I called and spoke with someone in tech support to get more info, and emailed them 2 more times later on for some help. They were very responsive and helpful, even confirming the correct compass direction I needed to point the antenna. Now we get all the channels broadcast from our local stations located about 15 miles from where we live.I mounted the antenna in our attic at the highest point I could, about 25 feet off the ground. We have 3/4 OSB and Hardie Plank on the outside of the house. We had an electrician install an outlet in the immediate area of the installation so I could plug in the signal amplifier and run 1 single cable to the basement. From there, I used one of their 4 way splitters so now we get free TV on all our TV's.I would tell anyone who's interested in free TV and unsure if this will work, to to call or email these guys and find out more before you buy. Their website provides a lot of information as well. Highly recommend this product, especially if you're within a reasonable range from the broadcast station towers.

More of an outdoor antenna than indoor
I’ve been experimenting with different amplified indoor antennas, and the ones that don’t pick up as many channels as others I have returned and got my money back. I live in the attic of a second floor apartment 40 miles north of Boston, MA and it would be too much of a hassle to mount an antenna outside, plus I plan on moving soon. So far the best indoor antenna I’ve come across is the “1byone foldable antenna” which is way cheaper than this antenna and way less bulky. According to the Channel Master TV Antenna Map (which you can find on Google) where I live I should be able to get around 59 channels. Well the 1byone picks up 64 channels whereas the other indoor antennas I’ve tried were only able to pull in 44-55 channels, and that’s the category this Marathon antenna falls into, however out of the other indoor antennas I’ve tried this one was second best to the 1byone, picking up 55 stations. There are pros and cons with this antenna, the best thing about it is the local Boston stations come in with a slightly stronger signal than they do with my 1byone antenna, however the stations up in Maine that the 1byone picks up no problem aren’t being picked up at all by the Marathon. The Marathon also had trouble picking up the New Hampshire stations that I usually receive no problem. Every antenna that I’ve tested out I’ve placed in front of the only window I have as that’s where I get the best reception, and I’ve also placed them in different spots, the left of my window, the middle, the right, you catch my drift. I’m able to perch the 1byone on top of my window frame whereas the Marathon I have to have on my window sill or on top of my a/c because of how big and bulky it is (it’s bigger than it looks) and because it’s lower to the ground than the 1byone antenna I’m guessing that’s the reason I’m picking up the Maine and NH stations with the 1byone. I do think however if I mounted this Marathon antenna outside I would probably get all the Maine and NH stations, and maybe even a couple more I’m not currently pulling in (wishful thinking) but since the Antenna Map told me the most channels I’d get with an outside antenna would be 59 and the 1byone picks up 64 indoors I’m done experimenting with different antennas as I’ve seem to have found the right one for me. I’m still going to give this Marathon antenna 4 stars however due to the fact the local Boston stations came in with a stronger signal, and I’m sure if I had this outside I’d get every available station no problem.
