This is strictly a hair stripper. It strips your color down to the roots. You will have to purchase a toner separately.

Q: What is the shelf life of this product?

I purchased for my girlfriend , other than I really like the color , I have no experience with this product

Q: In case I'm unable to apply the mixture to my hair right away, how long can it sit?

not sure...i have let it sit for several in the package....not already mixed

Q: Can you just use the liquid lighting and not the powder lightening? Or vice versa? What would happen if you just used the liquid lighting?

If you use the liquid only your hair will only lighten a few shades.the powder is a booster to give your hair a much lighter shade.especially if you are aiming to go from gold to pale yellow.,depending on your hairs starting or natural color you can’t use the powder by itself for any results.
