Is this for right and left hands?

The gloves come as a pair. Right and left hand. i loved it and it is easy to use.

Whats the difference between these and the "upgraded version"? (https://www.amazon.com/dp/b01n9ksitz)

I believe the green gloves (what I ordered) are the upgraded version of the blue gloves. I have no experience with the blue version and selected the green gloves based on the pictures provided. I noticed that one picture of the green gloves showed the hand bending and I liked the idea of a flexible glove that would allow me to better groom my cats. Hope this helps.

It appears to work on long haired dogs and cats. Will it work on my short haired great Dane?

It is not as effective on short haired dogs. I have a chihuahua mix who sheds like crazy. It does remove some hair, but not as much as on a longer haired dog or cat.
