I like it. I don't use the book/cd as much as I could, but I probably will once my instructor retires in June. Since starting Thanksgiving weekend, I've got Scots Wha' Hae, and Amazing Grace mastered (along with a substantial chunk of the fundamentals), and am near to mastering Will Ye No' Come Back Again, Skye Boat Song, and Auld Lang Syne. I'm beginning to branch out on my own and learn other tunes just because I can now read the music and want to explore a bit. It's a good chanter. The high A is a little more whistly than I like, and it sometimes closes the reed when you drop from a high to a low. The reed itself seems to get blown out real quick and I need to rewind the hemp once a week or so, but those are all small complaints. For me, it's a love of the music and culture of my ancestors, and the dexterity challenge, rather than the finesse that matters.

I have zero experience with anything bagpipe-related. But this chanter shipped pretty quick, and it's hella usable right out of the box. So of course the first thing I try to do is play 'scotland the brave' only my version is more like Scotland the flapping buttsqueak. But I'll get better with practice. If you've had any woodwind experience at all, you can definitely separate notes by tapping your tongue to the mouthpiece.Really, the best way to describe the sound is pretend you're a snake charmer. It's a good, sturdy instrument, I expect to be annoying my pets with this for a long time.

My instructor said it's a good practice chanter and book
Package was complete and arrived on time. My instructor said it's a good practice chanter and book. Although, the book doesn't have as many practice exercises as some others. I mistakenly thought the disc was a DVD, but it's not; it's a CD-ROM. I haven't played the CD-ROM so I can't comment on it. Still, the chanter is nice and loud compared to the one my friend bought. I'm happy with the purchase. Good luck to my fellow piper students!

Good Quality
The kids an I have a blast trying to learn on this. The instrument is built pretty tough and is holding up well. I didn't use the book or CD, so I can not comment on those.

This blows in a good way.
We are happy with the quality of these. My son joined a pipe corps and everyone uses this particular brand because it is a good grade and produces quality sound.
