Check the frame size
This is a good bike. It comes mostly assembled and with all the tools necessary to finish it up. If you don't have any experience assembling bikes I'd recommend a bike shop or a friend that's good with tools. It rides comfortably enough, but if it's been decades since you rode, like me, you may want a softer seat. the stock seat is adequate, however. It shifts smoothly enough with a flip of the thumb, but it may need adjusting, like mine did: it didn't shift into 7th (the smallest sprocket on the rear wheel), but the adjustment is easy enough and only requires a Philips screwdriver (which is supplied). The frame height is probably the most important thing you want to check. Unfortunately the specs for that middle bar (Not a step-through frame) aren't available. At 5'11", a large frame was recommended for me, but the middle bar is a tab bit high when I straddle the bike, feet flat on the ground. There should be about an inch and a half of clearance between the bar and your crotch, but since most of my length is not in my legs, the bar actually rides right up to the 'taint'. That makes it a little difficult for me to get on and off the bike (especially so soon after hip replacement surgery), but it's doable. If you can find a local shop where you can test one out, all the better. You may need a frame size other than recommended for your height (it's just a general guideline).Would I buy this bike again? Yes, definitely. It rides smooth and provides a reasonably comfortable posture. Is it the last bike I'll ever buy? Only time will tell. I'm in my 60s, so most likely yes, but I can see someone outgrowing this bike if they become serious about cycling.

Sturdy and easy to assemble
I absolutely love this bike. I’ve been looking for a bike that could hold my weight (320 lbs), and not cost thousands of dollars. This is it. It’s very sturdy, and easy to assemble. I really took my time to make sure I was doing it correctly, and I had it done in under an hour. I highly recommend this bicycle. I love being able to go riding with my son.

Raleigh comes through agin!
In my search for a older Raleigh Grand Prix 10 speed from the late seventies, I happened upon this red, Raleigh Detour 2, Comfort ,21 speed. For the price point, you can't be it!Yes, Raleigh had a tradition of constructing their bikes in England or some other European country as opposed to today's Raleigh that's built in China. Nevertheless, I am overjoyed with the performance of this bike so far.I ride a 10.25 mile bike course around my neighborhood in about 1 hour using a borrowed Gary Fisher bike. With my new Raleigh Detour 2 Comfort bike, I improved my speed per hour from 11.7 to 13 miles per hour. The Detour 2 Comfort bike is study, light weight (aluminum) frame, comfortable seat, with smooth shifting gears.I have wanted a Raleigh bike since I sold my Raleigh Grand Prix in 1970. Now that I"m 62, I need as much comfort as I can get.Great bike for the money.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Raleigh Detour 2 in terms of price or Quality!
So, after a good bit of online research, I just purchased and received my new Raleigh Detour 2 Large. It was just about in the price point that I was searching in and it seemed to check all the boxes. I am 66 y.o., 6' 1" and weigh 300 lbs and am looking to get some exercise, starting with riding laps in my neighborhood and branching out from there. I'm not looking to run the Tour de France but I do need to get started on some sort of an exercise regime.I was like a little boy waiting for the delivery truck to deliver my new bike. I can't believe how excited I was waiting the 3 plus days for it to get here. It arrived in perfect shape, no huge crunches in the box, scratches on the bike, or missing parts or equipment. In fact i was impressed with the ingenious methods Raleigh uses to ensure the bike arrives in good shape...there was no problems.Assembly of the bike was really a no brainer. I watched the Raleigh assembly video on Amazon, checked a couple of videos on You Tube to get a better understanding of how the brakes and derailleur system work and got it assembled and working in about an hour or so. It was really pretty intuitive. The bike comes with a complete set of instructions and essentially all the tools you'll need to assemble it.I'm sure I'll have to do some minor tweaks and adjustments on bike as things settle in after a few miles. Having said that, the bike shifted and stopped perfectly well right out of the box!So ... I'm on the road to a more fit and slimmer me and am looking forward to many happy miles of comfortable riding in the future. At this point, I am more than satisfied with my purchase. I think the red color and silver graphics look great and it truly seems to be a good value for the money! I don't think you can go wrong with this bike!

Good Bike
Set up wasn't as bad as some reviews said. Little time to figure brake set up. Less than an hour to complete total assembly. Three 8 mile trips. Much better ride than my old M50. I'm 67 YO and 6'-0" with a 33" inseam. The large was a perfect fit.

Good Price Nice Bike
The biggest issue for me and this bike was that it didn't come with instructions for putting the bike together. The YouTube videos weren't very helpful. Most of the assembly was intuitive and pretty easy, but the front brake wasn't. Once I finally (doh) looked at the rear brake to compare them, I figured out how to put the front together. I won't win the Tour de France with this, but it's a fun bike for tooling around and getting a bit of exercise.

Recommend this bike
Great price ($184). High quality. It arrived quickly and was not missing parts. I had this assembled at a local bike shop for $60 and it looked as nice as many bikes they had in the store for over $500! My son is 12 years old and weighs about 125lbs. He is 65” tall and the 17” model is perfect for him with plenty of room to grow into as the seat is still at its lowest setting. He said the seat is very comfortable. I wish it had a kickstand but that’s only a $12 fix.
