Use at home to keep clothes protected prior to and during pest control treatment. Other great uses: Camping, Allergies, Arts and Crafts Storage, Dorms, Barracks. With the rapid increase in bed bug infestations over the last few years, it has become more and more likely that bed bugs will crawl into your suitcase or clothes in the middle of the night when you are staying in a hotel, cruise ship, hospital or other travel destination. Since they only come out late at night, most people have no idea that they have brought them home until 3 months after the fact when a few bed bugs have multipled into a thousand and they now have a major pest control problem to deal with at home. BugZip is specially designed for advanced resistance to bed bugs. Diligently encasing all clothing, bags and belongings while traveling greatly reduces the likelihood of bringing bed bugs home or from place to place. BugZip is also a great resource for individuals and families whose homes are already infested. Use BugZip to encase clean clothes and inside drawers to protect from bed bugs while you prepare for and live through treatment. All Bugzip encasements are made of heavy-duty clear vinyl that resists tears and can easily hold large objects inside. The specially designed three-sided bed bug resistant zipper allows easy access to your clothes and belongings while zipping out bed bugs when they are on the move at night. All BugZip Encasements come flat folded in a 10x13x1 in. retail bag which fits nicely in most suitcase pockets during travel. BugZip encasements are recommended for use in one location only. Bugs can be on the outside of the BugZip and may be hard to see. Bringing a used BugZip from place to place defeats the purpose of the product.

how to use this properly

I was away from home for about 3 months and the place I stayed at turned out to be infested with bed bugs. when I found out, I was mighty pissed about losing my entire luggage as I don't want to bring the bedbugs into my home. I search every where and found out about these bags. here is what I did.the moment I got home, I put my luggage inside the bag, closed the zip. and sealed with silicon rubber sealant :P make sure you have some disposable rubber gloves ready. applying the sealant on the zipper with hand is a must. the luggage will stay sealed for 2 years to make 200% sure all bugs will died in it. boiling dry clean only cloth is not an option. this plan just saved me thousands $$$the silicon sealant will make this bag 1000% air tight. it can be had for like 5$ at your local hardware store.the bag by it self is 100% useless. the closed zipper leaves a huuuuuge gap.

Don't waste your money

These are cheaply made and can't possibly work--there are massive holes around the beginning and end of the zipper. The zipper does not close all the way. And the plastic smells horrible. The Ziploc totes are not suitable if you have bedbugs, either, as they have mesh opening around the zipper, allowing critters to come and go as they please. There does not seem to be a suitable product on the market for keeping your clothes safe in your drawers, unless you want to keep everything in individual plastic baggies!

save your money!

I bought these in preparation for a trip. I followed the directions given on the package (wait to getting to the hotel, look at the room, ect.), and hoped that the product would give me peace of mind and keep bed bugs from coming home with me. However, while I am happy to announce that the hotel was bed bug free and I didn't bring any extra "guests" home with me, the cases broke along the zippers within 2 days of use. I also noticed that the large ziploc bags that I bought  S C Johnson Wax 65645 "Ziploc" Extra Extra Large Big Bag, 3-Pack were much more effective and air tight than the BugZip products. To do it all again, I would just avoid these all together, get some bed bug spray  JT Eaton 208-W6Z Bedbug Control For Luggage And Mattresses, 6-Ounce Spray Bottle , and some duct tape to seal any areas (if you're feeling particularly worried about holes), otherwise, don't waste your money on these.

Faulty Zippers

I actually bought this to organize items in my car trunk. The zipper is lousy and breaks immediately if it was to be used to keep bed bugs out I am sure this issue would render it useless. Needs to be manufactured better!

Works well if you're careful

If you operate the zipper slowly & CAREFULLY, especially at the corners, this product works well. I have used it on 2 multi-day trips, and it's done its job with no problems. Do I wish that it was made of a material more robust than vinyl? Absolutely! Is there a better product that will fit a 28" suitcase on the market? Not that I could find after an exhaustive internet search. The zipper "teeth" are mounted directly to the vinyl, rather than a stronger, more tear-resitant material, making the zipper quite fragile. You have to go slow, and hold the 2 edges of the un-zippered side close to each other as you zip it closed, to minimize the likelihood that the teeth will tear away from the vinyl.

peace of mind, but not sure what else

Right before I had to go abroad for two weeks, we found bedbugs in my apartment.I used this at home as a "safe storage" for a new suitcase, my carry-on, and all the clean clothes that would come on the trip as the rest of the apt was exterminated. This was handy, and put my mind at ease. The plastic is thick, and the zipper seems tough. It is a durable product to me.With that in mind, the packaging says that it is recommended for one time use only. It is recommended for travelers to take with them and use one per destination. Then throw it away, so that you don't take the bugs it keeps out with you. But what about the potential bugs on your pjs? or the bugs that leap off you when you unzip this plastic encasement? Honestly, it doesn't seem viable, but I guess it's something that could help you sleep better at night.Anyways, I didn't take them with me on my trip, there's no way they would've fit into my suitcase...
