Addictive and Delicious, Fantastic Savory Banana Chips
The only banana chips I’ve ever eaten when growing up have been the sweetened kind. When offered savory banana chips, I was skeptical on how good these can be, and I was very pleased to find that savory works very well with banana chips. The Bubba’s Foods Banana Chip Variety Pack are a great savory snack that are healthier than potato chips, have a variety of delicious flavors, and just taste good. The Garlic Parmesan was the family’s favorite of the three flavors offered. The Parmesan Garlic is very pronounced and worked so well with the plain banana chip. The Blazing Buffalo flavor offered a good vinegary and spicy kick that is spicy enough to make it interesting, but not so spicy that it kills taste buds. The Sea Salt flavor rounded off the variety pack - it was the simplest of flavors, but it worked best as a dipping chip for guacamole, hummus, and other dips because it was “blank canvas”, so to speak. While I wouldn’t call these health foods, these are better than most conventional snacks and definitely will satisfy the cravings for salty, crunchy chips. These are a good satisfying snack I wouldn’t mind blowing a few calories on.

A lot of calories and saturated fat
Yes, it's paleo. I know, but still. Check the nutrition label before buying. They taste pretty good. Cut a little thicker than I prefer, but not a big deal.

Classic Sea Salt flavor good, others not so much
About a week ago, I was offered a free 18-pack of Bubba's Foods Paleo Banana Chip Variety Pack for review via the Amazon Vine Program, and I accepted. These are interesting banana chips in that in this pack, Bubba's is going for 100% savory flavor with these, and they pretty much achieved that with various degrees of success. They are all very crunchy and not at all greasy. These are my impressions of the three flavors included in this pack:Classic Sea Salt - aside from the small diameter of the chips and the thicker cut, you would be hard pressed to figure out that these were not potato chips if you didn't already know. At least at first. Somehow, a fruity banana undertone eventually invades and gives it away. Overall, these are pretty good. Four stars for the Classic Sea Salt.Blazing Buffalo - Some underlying salt and spicy flavor, but heat overpowers and takes over quickly. Once that happens, there is no flavor, just heat. I'm not a fan of heat for the sake of heat. Two stars for this flavor.Grand Garlic Parm - I get salt, garlic, rosemary and oregano... but the flavor is... muddy. I'm not thrilled with them overall, so I'm not a fan of this flavor either. Maybe three stars for this one.So I would be happy with a bag of the Classic Sea Salt flavor but the other two varieties don't do it for me. That is why I'm giving this variety pack three stars.

a very flavorful and robust banana chip
There are two kinds of banana chips that i am familiar with. One type is the no sodium and usually just regular flavored type that i can but at my local health food market across the street. The other type belongs to the category this variety pack from the Bubbas brand. This type of banana chip is made to taste like a regular chip in that there is a heavy sodium type strong flavor going on. This is the first time i have had such a robust variation of this more intense type of approach.I am a fan of all three of the flavors but i am more into the healthier type due to my transition into health food about seven years ago. If i were younger i would choose this kind as my main with the buffalo flavor being my flavor of choice based on the provider three flavor options. This buffalo chip gives you a little kick of spice without leaving a lingering cheap spice effect. The chips themselves are very hard so you have to be careful with the teeth. This is common with every kind of banana chip i have tried and therefore this is an objective warning for everyone. The garlic flavor is intense but not too intense with the end result being very pleasing. The original flavor is nice because it retains the actual bananas taste rather than completely masking it by a robust spice of some sort (not that that is bad) leaving a traditional taste option.I like the small bags which can fit in a coat pocket or some other small area for snacking. I threw one in mini hiking sling to take on a hike.I like the mascot which is a cartoon ape and i feel it is comical. The expression of its face is a sly cool sort of character and that is easy to remember hence a good mascot for the brand. In conclusion i am happy with these chip and recommend them for anyone looking for a banana chip that mimics a regular chip.

nobody in my family really liked these
We tried both the salted ones and a variety pack of flavors. I really like the idea of these more than the product. Banana chips are supposed to have a bit of sweetness and need a consistent crunch. The crunch isn't bad, but it has a little bit of softness that in potato chips means stale. (Here I just think it's a product of how bananas turn out when they're fried.) Then there is no sweetness at all. The variety of banana is just pure starch. I believe they try to hide the poor quality of the banana with heavy flavors or extra salt. I actually like regular old dehydrated banana chips better than these. I would love a bagel chip with the garlic parm flavor!
