The brakes that come on the bike are not the best
Overall the bike is pretty great. I’ve ridden it 24 miles per day for commuting for a week now. I will concur that the brakes on this bike are not good. The design has a lot of problems from the actuator to the pads themselves. I adjusted the brakes as well as I could (I have a lot of experience in bike maintenance) and could never get them very straight. It seems the pads are in the brakes at an angle. My last ride of the week, one of the pads slipped off and wedged itself further in the brake causing a lot of drag. I replaced the calipers with a set of hydraulic brake that do not rub and actually have a lot more braking power. I would suggest considering this upgrade yourself.

Good quality for the price
The bike arrived in good shape, on time and was delivered by ups. The bike assembly was pretty easy for someone with some some experience. The bike came with a bad chain ring and that's why I dinged it one star down. Some teeth were improperly manufactured causing the chain to skip. I had and extra crank set and installed it promptly to remedy the issue. Parts should be inspected carefully before installation and assembly. For someone new to disk brakes note The disk brakes need to be cleaned, adjusted and bedded properly. Brakes will have excessive braking vibration and noise if not done properly. so look up mechanical disk brake installation, adjustment and bedding before assembly and first ride. The bike is of decent quality for the price and other than the bad chain ring I got probably by chance is the only issue I encountered. The frame is good quality and welds look pretty good. It's double butted aluminum and seems solid. hardware was either in the bike already or was in the bag with reflectors. The front brake disk was in a separate box inside. Over all I'm pleased with the bike and I look forward to upgrading some components and improving the bike.

Great entry level road bike
I have1000 miles on this bike, mostly cities. I bought it last year. Nothing has broke and everything is still the original ones, even the tires! You need to be careful for the first ride after assembly and know your bike, or just learn them. Tuning a bike is not rocket science. Watch a few videos. After that, it will be YOUR bike and you can see how a road bike feels like and why some components are more expensive!

Solid bike for the price
I use this bike exclusively on an indoor trainer. I use it with a wahoo KICKR snap and I run Zwift. I’ve ridden 217 miles and climbed nearly 17,000 feet. The front derailleur broke after a few rides (spring broke off). This was a cheap fix and the shop I upgraded the part for $25. Considering the cost this bike is a great buy for me and has allowed me to climb the highest climbs such as the Alpe du Zwift. Four stars.

Good for the money. Brakes are marginal.
This bike is nice for the money. It's pretty light weight. The shifter is the old style lever mounted at the center of the handlebars, but works well after a few adjustments. My biggest complaint is the brakes. They aren't "strong". After adjusting the caliper position to be as close to centered on the disc as possible, then tightening the cable to get the pads as close to the disc as possible without dragging, you still have to really squeeze hard to slow down. Granted I'm comparing it to road bikes that cost 3x this much (which have hydraulic disc brakes, or old style rim brakes, not mechanical cable actuated disc brakes like this bike), I think they could do better. It's usable, but annoying. I rode the bike about 150 miles right after assembly, and have enjoyed it so far.

Great Purchase
Having rode on this bike for over 150 miles I can attest to the following statements:1) The package arrived better than I expected (First Picture).2) Vilano takes good care of their shipment, it shows in the packaging (Second Picture).3) Initial Assembly was simple and the instructions were clear and simple to follow.4) My first ride after the tune up was a whole new feeling, compared to my old bike (Fifth Picture) The Vilano rides smoother, accelerates faster and allows me to move at greater speeds (Thinner wheel size), Disc Brakes are a smooth stop, changing gears are a seamless transition from one to the next, after a bit of practice and adjusting to the thinner tire I relearned riding with no hands, it IS possible.5) The seat is more comfortable than my old bike seat but bike shorts definitely help.6) The pedals did not look bad, so they are on my old bike now (I have bike clips that I use on the Vilano).7) The single water bottle cage I have attached last me for 30-50 mile rides (Green Gatorade Water Bottle).Bike Gear to invest in:- Lights (Fourth Picture)- Bike Clips/Pedals/Shoes- Water Bottle Cage- Biking Jersey/Shorts- Small pack for snacks/toolsI will recommend Vilano Products to my friends and will look again when purchasing my next bike!

Terrible Defective Bike, Terrible Customer Service
The brake pad calipers i received were defective and the bike was unrideable with the brake pads on so the only way i could test ride the bike was to totally take both the brake pads off and ride with zero brakes, and somehow it was still the slowest road bike ive ever ridden. Couldnt even really work up the speed to even need brakes. Then on top of that, the company doesn't accept free returns, even with a defective bike. Their return policy is sneakily worded to where you're not sure if theyre going to reimburse you for return shipping or not. Speaking to their horrible customer service, apparently everything was my fault and im an idiot for assuming a company wouldnt be so horrendous to make people pay $100+ to send their defective $300 bicycle back. Literally the worst customer service ive dealt with, felt like i was talking to a little kid making "i know you are but what am i" excuses for their terrible product and policies. If you're looking to go cheap on a road bike theres better options than this piece of junk. But its worth it to open the wallet a little bit and get a carbon bike, you can find them not horribly expensive on auction sites.
