Not sure why is has so many negative reviews
This is a great device, brought it for our dog as he likes to disappear at times. It was really cheap to buy, £12 compare to other which where between £30 - £60 and again the subscription is also a lot cheaper then others, I went for a 24-month contract which is only £2 a month if you have a 12 month contract it's still only £3 a month. The app was easy to set up and use and I have not had any issues with it, the GPS is accurate enough. All in all its a great device and it allows piece of mind at a low cost. Just check you get Vodafone signal were you are and i should be fineUPDATE: Over a year later its still going strong, even with what our dog puts it through, the only downside I have found is it does need charging every two days.

Works great to track a cat
I bought this product to keep an eye on my cat, and to catch out a pesky women who keeps taking my cat in, but denying it when she's confronted! Initially, I was aprihensive, due to all the bad reviews, but so far I have had no real issues. And for £20 for the device and then £36 for the years subscription, its far cheaper than pet trackers. I will update if anything changes. My cat isn't very big, so I didn't use the key ring to attach, I attached it straight to her collar and it is a little big, but doesn't restrict her movement and she doesn't really notice much.We charged the battery up for 2 hours before we used it. My cat wore it all day and it had hardly drained. We did keep the tracker on power saving mode. I don't think it would last 7 days though, maybe 3 or 4.Its not pin point accurate, but if I need to find my cat, I know she's roughly near that area. Gives me a sense of relief to know that I can find her quickly if I need to.It doesn't come with instructions, but if you download the Smart Vodafone app, its tells you how to set it up and use it on there. The app can be a little glitchy and can take a few minutes to locate, but if your patient, that won't bother you too much.Only downside is that if I want to get another one for my second cat, I have to pay for a second full years subscription, where as some of the other trackers you just pay one subscription and add as many trackers to it as you like.

So far so good.
After researching these low cost GPS dongles, I got one to leave in the car (a bit of paranoia creeping in there) so I can track it should a naughty boy (or girl!!!) take a shine to it. It also helps me find where I parked in some of those 'ginormous' car parks I use from time to time. Initially the dongle have false results, reporting that it was miles away from its actual location. I have since discovered that this only occurs when I use the dongle via Alexa. When I use it via the Vodaphone dedicated app it seems to function more like I expected it to.I'm currently subscribed via a special offer which is cheap as chips (cheaper actually). I would consider getting more of these dongles but those tiny sub's soon add up to a significant amount (come on Vodaphone, do a special multi device price plan). The only other issue this far is that the battery doesn't last for long. With 30 minute updates, the battery only lasts about 5 days between charges. But your life that if a little blighted does take a shine to the car, it will be whilst the dongle is in the house being charged.Despite these niggles, I have no specific concerns. I may get an additional dongle for the keys (which I seem to loose with a disturbing frequency) and one for my bag. A bitter sweet feature is that if the nearest and dearest also have one of these, they can be linked so that we can keep tabs on where each others dongles are. I guess that use of this function is dependent on need and how much you trust the nearest and dearest with this information (and if you want to risk them spying on you!!!)For me however, given my experience and use of the dongle.....So far, so good.

Waste of money
If anyone is thinking of buying a pet tracker to keep an eye on their pet with the recent rise in dog napping, donāt bother with the Vodafone Curve. Itās meant to be the latest in GPS tracking technology but what they donāt tell you on the glossy ads is that it only uses 2G and 3G, not 4G. At one point my dog, who was standing next to me was showing as 3 miles away. This was a regular occurrence or it couldnāt pick up his location at all.The App worked sporadically as I had to constantly turn my phone on and reinstall the app to see if that worked. It just kept coming up with the āloadingā message before timing out.The tracker then fell out of the holder whilst on a dog walk after a few weeks of ownership. I thought at least I can find it with real-time tracking enabled but within 5 minutes it showed me 3 separate locations all miles away from each other. Unless Superman had picked up the device and was flying around with it, there was no reason why the tracker was showing as located in 3 areas at the same time.A customer service advisor at Vodafone, informed me that it is a known problem that the device falls out of the holder and they are working on a new version. She also said you have to search on their website for network coverage in your area for the Curve (even though they promise their tracker is superior to others as cellular/WiFi will kick in if GPS fails). Nowhere in the marketing does it tell you to check coverage in your area as implies everywhere is covered. The Advisor also informed me that itās common for the tracker to give multiple locations many miles from each other. How Vodafone can then advertise this device as a pet tracker is beyond me as even if you are lucky to live in an area with full coverage you are likely to lose it!Vodafone Smart Tech - ācurve is ready for every adventureā (but only if you donāt use it as a tracker, live in an area with perfect network coverage and never take it out of your bag or pocket incase it falls out of the holder!Well done Vodafone for duping people into buying this awful piece of āsmart techā - what a waste of Ā£20ā. They have agreed to cancel my contract with no early cancellation charge but I feel they should have refunded me Ā£20 for a device that is not fit for purpose. Trading standards should be investigating this product as itās such a con.
