Not sure why is has so many negative reviews
This is a great device, brought it for our dog as he likes to disappear at times. It was really cheap to buy, £12 compare to other which where between £30 - £60 and again the subscription is also a lot cheaper then others, I went for a 24-month contract which is only £2 a month if you have a 12 month contract it's still only £3 a month. The app was easy to set up and use and I have not had any issues with it, the GPS is accurate enough. All in all its a great device and it allows piece of mind at a low cost. Just check you get Vodafone signal were you are and i should be fineUPDATE: Over a year later its still going strong, even with what our dog puts it through, the only downside I have found is it does need charging every two days.

Works great to track a cat
I bought this product to keep an eye on my cat, and to catch out a pesky women who keeps taking my cat in, but denying it when she's confronted! Initially, I was aprihensive, due to all the bad reviews, but so far I have had no real issues. And for £20 for the device and then £36 for the years subscription, its far cheaper than pet trackers. I will update if anything changes. My cat isn't very big, so I didn't use the key ring to attach, I attached it straight to her collar and it is a little big, but doesn't restrict her movement and she doesn't really notice much.We charged the battery up for 2 hours before we used it. My cat wore it all day and it had hardly drained. We did keep the tracker on power saving mode. I don't think it would last 7 days though, maybe 3 or 4.Its not pin point accurate, but if I need to find my cat, I know she's roughly near that area. Gives me a sense of relief to know that I can find her quickly if I need to.It doesn't come with instructions, but if you download the Smart Vodafone app, its tells you how to set it up and use it on there. The app can be a little glitchy and can take a few minutes to locate, but if your patient, that won't bother you too much.Only downside is that if I want to get another one for my second cat, I have to pay for a second full years subscription, where as some of the other trackers you just pay one subscription and add as many trackers to it as you like.

So far so good.
After researching these low cost GPS dongles, I got one to leave in the car (a bit of paranoia creeping in there) so I can track it should a naughty boy (or girl!!!) take a shine to it. It also helps me find where I parked in some of those 'ginormous' car parks I use from time to time. Initially the dongle have false results, reporting that it was miles away from its actual location. I have since discovered that this only occurs when I use the dongle via Alexa. When I use it via the Vodaphone dedicated app it seems to function more like I expected it to.I'm currently subscribed via a special offer which is cheap as chips (cheaper actually). I would consider getting more of these dongles but those tiny sub's soon add up to a significant amount (come on Vodaphone, do a special multi device price plan). The only other issue this far is that the battery doesn't last for long. With 30 minute updates, the battery only lasts about 5 days between charges. But your life that if a little blighted does take a shine to the car, it will be whilst the dongle is in the house being charged.Despite these niggles, I have no specific concerns. I may get an additional dongle for the keys (which I seem to loose with a disturbing frequency) and one for my bag. A bitter sweet feature is that if the nearest and dearest also have one of these, they can be linked so that we can keep tabs on where each others dongles are. I guess that use of this function is dependent on need and how much you trust the nearest and dearest with this information (and if you want to risk them spying on you!!!)For me however, given my experience and use of the dongle.....So far, so good.

Works OK but with one massive flaw
It seems that the app is linked to only ONE mobile phone -- which is completely useless. If I lose my bag or equipment it is highly likely I will lose my phone too. I can't then call my wife (from another phone) to track it quickly because ... she won't be able to log on. They really need to allow several instances of the app to connect simultaneously -- surely this is a basic issue. Also we and others have found that the App keeps logging out every few weeks and needs to be logged in again. Hardly helpful if you have to recover the location of an item rapidly even if your phone is not stolen or lost at the same time.....Surely these things are pretty fundamental...Downgraded my review: The app is diabolical - as other users find it is a massive amount of work to keep logged in -- why one earth do they need to keep logging you out all the time -- people are asking but are getting no answers. Never again.

Not quite up to its potential
It's got great potential but doesn't quite deliver. When it works it's great but it takes far too long to register when the device leaves your home area, and far too long to register the fort ping after a refresh and for me the first ping was always wildly inaacurate. The history feature is pretty useless because for some reason instead of just recording each ping that is sent to the phone and mapping these as an historical route it chooses to only log 'known' places (I think they get these from Google places) which are few and far between and a very strange choice. They could have just stored the location pings with a datestamp as they are received and then mapped these...could even have got clever and linked them together using the time stamp to produce an approximate route. I can't imagine anyone uses the history function as it stands.Battery life was ok on everyday mode but with 6 months the battery failed and wouldn't hold charge for more than 12 hours or so.Still a little large for anything other than a large dog but amazingly small considering what is in it!
