RENPHO White Noise Machine, ensures Good Sleep Quality for Adults with Soothing Sounds and Timer with Memory, Privacy Noise Cancellation in Office, Portable for Travel

I am a big fan of noise machines while I sleep. Have used them every night for many years now. I purchased this unit as a backup to an antiquated ipod system (5 "noise songs" that are on a perpetual loop) that is bound to die in the not-to-distant future. I also own another noise machine from a different company I purchased over 5 years ago that I use at a different location.Here are my pros and cons of this unit:Pros:1. Small, compact unit. Really great option for a small footprint on the bedside table or for traveling2. Large variety of "noise" choices. I myself have a pretty narrow range of preferences of what noise I best sleep too based on my usage of these type of units in the past, but I did find several I liked. I would say that this unit has a lot of options for children (heart beats, jewelry box, etc.), more so than my other noise machine, so I think this would be a good choice for those with kids.3. Good price point4. Timer function for those who only want to the noise while going to sleepCons:1. I was concerned that the unit only runs off of battery power. I prefer to have the noise machine going all night long. The instructions say that the unit will last 9 hours of use between charges. And, more importantly to me, the instructions say to unplug after charging and before use. For me that would taking the time to charge every morning for use the following night since it seems it is not recommended to run while plugged in. Not really practical. But I am happy to report that after 3 straight nights of use (about 8 hrs run time per night) without a charge, the unit is still running on only one charge. This of course would not be an big issue at all for those who wish to use the timer functions and only have the unit running for an hour or so every night.2. Volume. I was surprised that the unit can only be turned so low in volume. The lowest volume to me is fairly loud for those of us who want to set the unit right next to us on the night stand. Problem solved if you choose to set the unit on a dresser, etc. farther away from you.Update 9/27/2020: I increased my star rating from 4 stars to 5 stars.First, in regards to the charge issue. I used the unit at the lowest volume setting, all night for at least 8 hrs per night, and it lasted on one charge for 7 nights straight. I can handle charging the unit once per week instead of my original concern that I may have to charge it daily.Second, in regards to the volume level issue. The manufacturer contacted me and assured me that the next version of this unit will have adjustments to a lower volume level that the current version. I have also realized after more use of this unit that the current lowest volume level really isn't as a much of an issue as I initially thought. I have been experimenting by directing the speaker side of the unit away from the bed at different angles and that helps lower the sound volume sufficiently.

I primarily purchased this sound machine because I have gotten very used to falling asleep to our Google Home Mini's "ambient sounds" which was primarily the rain sound, and for whatever reason after an update it started to fail to connect and since I am very sensitive to sounds (or lack thereof) that meant I was having a very difficult time trying to fall asleep. I listened to some of the videos of this noice machine to hear if it had a similar rain sound and decided to order it. I am so grateful that I did because I LOVE this little machine.It came with a USB charging cable so that you can either charge it and use it as a wireless sound machine or plug it into a wall adapter (not included) and just run it off of regular power. Thankfully it actually uses the same plug as our Mini so I simply switched out the cords and didnt have a need for the included USB. Supposedly the battery can last up to 8h or more but I haven't tested this as I hardly ever use it off the plug, however it is so nice to have the option in case of a random power outage. Also for such a small device it can get very surprisingly loud. I've also used it every night for at least two or three months now and have had no decrease in quality or any sort of issue with it whatsoever.Honestly for such a wide range of volume options, optional automatic off timer, variety of sounds, compact size, and the options to have it wired or wireless this sound machine is a fantastic find.p.s. - my personal favorite sound is the thunderstorm with rain. :)

The media could not be loaded. Wonderful! I so love this adorable compact and portable sound machine! I thought it was only going to have white noise but it also has other sounds like rain, wind, thunderstorm, river. Forest, crickets. Fetal heart beat and so on, it comes with an usb charger. 36 different sounds and adjustable volume. It also has a timer for 30, 60, or 90 minutes or you can use without the timer so that it plays the whole night. Best thing is that the sounds don’t repeat monotonously so that is even better for relaxing and sleeping.I took a couple of pics with it next to my hand so that it’s easier to see how small this is. I will for sure be traveling with it as it’s very portable.You can play it for a few hours once it’s fully charged without it being plugged in- which is an unexpected bonus! A usb charging cable is included but not the adapter (brick that plugs into the wall).Definitely a keeper! I’m thrilled with my white noise sound machine from a reputable brand that I already trust!!! Great price too!!!!

The machine was ordered from Amazon and arrived earlier than promised. At first glance, it is compact and a nicely manufactured device. The package includes the device, a battery charging cable, and a user manual. Does not include a 110 VAC to 5 VDC power unit. Use one of the 5 VDC units that accompany your smart phone or similar devices along with the provided charging cable.The manual is well written and does not seem to be a simple translation from Chinese to English.The device is very easy to operate. There are only 5 buttons. there is a power on/off button, volume up and volume down buttons, timer button, and finally a sound selection button. There are 36 different sounds to choose from. Clicking the sound button will allow rolling through all the selections. The sound is very crisp and clear.Easy improvements:1. the lowest sound volume may still be too loud for the quiet nights of suburban areas. Would be nice to have a notch lower volume.2. A phone number is provided for the phone support with the timings of 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Does not mention that it is Pacific time.3. A nice future addition would be to allow us to add our own favorite soothing tunes.
