Aquasana AQ-PWFS-P-W 8-Cup Pitcher Powered Water Filtration System

PLEASE READ MY ENTIRE REVIEW SO THAT NEW PURCHASERS MAY GET AN IDEA OF THE POTENTIAL PERILS OF THIS PRODUCT. THANKS!================================================================This has saved my life from buying gallons of bottled water! I've tried other water filters but each had too many problems.IMPORTANT NOTE (AND PLEASE SEE UPDATES BELOW): When I first got this it worked perfectly for a few weeks. But then it started to leak. I contacted the company and they immediately sent me a new one, and postage to send the old one back. They were great.Now a few points:1. The filtered water tastes wonderful. Pure. Delicious.2. The filter lasts a long time and I use a LOT of water.3. If you're planning to refrigerate the water, I recommend buying glass pitchers to transfer water into. The plastic pitcher that goes into the dock is kind of big and clunky to keep in the fridge.4. The machine is noisy. But it filters thru very fast. Really fast. So the noise is not an issue.4. After you filter, leave the pitcher in the doc for five or so minutes. If you remove it immediately after filtering, it drips a little bit.5. Make sure you wait until the blue light goes out before removing the pitcher. Sometimes it goes out but then a second later it goes back on. As if it realizes there's a bit more water to filter.6. Buy a second Aquasana Pitcher so you can always have enough water filtered. I use some in my fridge and then keep some on my kitchen counter out of the dock for making coffee or other cooking, like making rice, soup, etc.7. Keep a new filter on hand so if your filter runs out, you can change it immediately.8. This is very east to use. No rocket science required.9. Before ordering, check the measurements of the dock to make sure you have the space and know where you're going to keep it.============================================================UPDATED REVIEW September 28, 2014:The second replacement unit I received from Aquasana has, after just a few months, started leaking AGAIN, this time very badly all over my kitchen counter and floor! This leak is much worse than the first unit that leaked.I have read that other customers have had the same problem and one woman stated she was on her fifth unit!When this Filtration System actually works, it is great! But once it starts to leak it is useless.I have written two emails to Aqausana via Amazon and have not yet had a reply for a new replacement. I am not at all happy that i have not received an immediate reply because I thought I'd give it one more try.If anyone else has similar problems, I would be most appreciative if you would let me know how/if your problem was solved.=============================================================UPDATE INFO RE: My review of September 28 ABOVE:On September 30, I received the following email from Aquasana via Amazon:"We experienced a 2% return rate for the problem you are describing. The fix is in place, but we haven't received new units from Manufacturing as of yet. We have several options to help provide you filtered water. We can send you a refurbished unit, we can wait for new units or we can send you a countertop filter to have until the new units come in. I'm sorry that we don't currently have a better solution for you at this time, but will do what we can to help.Darren Hilscher"==============================================================UPDATE RE: ABOVE, Oct 5thReceived the following email from Aquasana:"I apologize for the delay in getting back to you on this. Our engineer was out, but built your system today. It is on it's way to you via UPS. "I hope this refurbished one works until they actually build new ones with the leaking problem fixed!===============================================================UPDATE: Oct 11thI just received my third unit. This one is refurbished but works like new. Hope it stays that way because I love this system. And the Aquasana people are really terrific, try very hard to please their customers! I'm changing my rating to four stars now.================================================================UPDATE: December 15th, 2014The refurbished unit I received in October has just leaked so badly, only ¼ of the pitcher was full, the rest leaked out of the dock all over my floor.I have written to Aquasana requesting A BRAND NEW UNTI but I have little hope this will happen. As such, I will request a complete refund for the System plus all of the additional parts for it that I purchased.Actually, after so many months, I'm furious!

I purchased this product 2/27/14. Since the purchase of this system I now drink more water than I have in the past. I stop dinking the tap water and just drank from the aquasana for seven weeks. I did a taste test recently because frankly I couldn't tell the difference when I originally tested it when I first got the aquasana. Now seven weeks later I tasted the tap water for the first time and ok yes therr is a big difference, I had to spit out the tap water. I tasted the chemicals in it period. Now I probrably will never drink tap water again unless its filtered.The system works fine everytime I use it. I also purchased the 16 cup pitcher because I was satified with the perfomance of the 8 cup pitcher system.Pros:* Works as advertised* Filters quickly* sleek design* Light weight* optional 8 cup pitcher and 16 cup dispensor big plus* easy to clean* easy refill* simple setup* easy filter changeCons:* a little noisy could be quieter but does filter fast* could be cheaper* need a better handling design for the 16 cup dispensor hard to hold when refilling.* 16 cup water pitcher only last for about 1.5 years o-ring wears out* The entire system last 1.6 years5/23/14 updateits been three months and I am still enjoying the water from this system. I haven't drank any kind of tap water what so ever since I purchased this system and I use to drink tap water daily.7/18/14Its been five months and the system has been working with no issues. I may need to order a filter soon.5/9/15My Aquasana is still working fine no leaks and still pumps. My fiances is still working well no leaks and pumping fine. No compalints what so ever.UPdate:12/10/15The 16 cup pitcher needs an O-ring improvement. The elasticity of the O-ring wears out causing leakage. Aquasana should supply extra of these O-rings in case of wear and tear or support them on line. I am sure that Aquasana is aware of this.UPdate:12/21/15 Almost lasted two years.The system does not work anymore. Probably because of over use. We have three people in our house hold. We use it for coffee, tea, drinking water. Our youngest daughter and my wife drink a lot of water. I contemplated the Berkey but I don't think it will give us the amount of water we consume on a daily. The berkey may be sufficient if you only using it for drinking water that way you don't use up all the water. The berkey filters also cost about 3.5xs the amount and the berkey its self it 2x the cost of this system but will last. The filters last an average of 6 months, that is a lot of filtered water. This aquasana is is fast filtering so I do not have to wait for the gravity to do its work to get filtered water thats the benefit of this system, I get it on demand is what we need. The water taste great and this is not just coming from me its coming from the ladies in the house. Yes I will order again saves money on bottled water and its used for other purposes.UPDATE 6/28/16I should have updated this 6 months ago. I mentioned that the product stopped working in my last update. I did something a few weeks after it stop working. I took it apart to look around and it looked fine. I put it back together and it started working again. I don't know what happened, not sure if I over reacted when it initially over stopped working but it has been working flawlessly since then. Just glad it started working again.

I did some prior research, and determined that this Aquasana water filter had amongst the best reviews and certifications for removing contaminants. However, many reviews also said that the dispenser started to leak after a while. But I decided to take a chance, and I bought it anyways. Very disappointed to say that it leaked immediately, due to a poor design that relies solely on a small o-ring, that does not provide a proper seal. I have returned the dispenser for refund, and will investigate other options.
