Heads Above the Competition for 11+ Tests with a Clear Advantage:
Covers the topic of Non-verbal Reasoning thoroughly for a young early starter, whilst making it fun, interactive and inviting. What we love most about this is that it's as though the kids have a personal tutor - the writing style and simplicity just makes sense to our young daughter. It really grasps the child's language and ability and explains in a clearcut kid friendly manner.Even the answers section in this book have simple explanations so the child understands where they are going astray, they use images and colour in this section too which appeals to visual learners. Our daughter takes these books out herself and does a couple of pages without any prompting before breakfast. She considers them as if they're just another fun puzzle book. We've have many lightbulb moments with the 11+ CGP books with all our children across the board, I can't recommend them highly enough!

So fun that your child will not even realise that this is educational too!
This 11+ non verbal reasoning activity book is designed for 7-8 year olds. It is full of eye-catching colour and interest and some puzzles are more challenging than others. The exercises are fun to do and the pupil is guided with an example at the beginning of each section. In fact, the exercises in this book are so fun that your child will not even realise that the puzzles are educational. These exercises are thoughtfully produced as it looks at patterns and odd one outs. They are bite sized so can be done after school or even on holiday, without becoming tedious or even time consuming. There are answers at the back of the book, with explanations.

Great practice book for 11+ preparation
I was thinking it might be too early to prepare for 11+, until I saw this CGP 11+ fun activity books. This book is for 7 to 8 years old. It contains different topics, each topic has 2 pages practice. The questions and the layout are colourful and fun to do. Well designed to suit the age. The question types are similar to the 11+ but simpler. My kid enjoys doing it which is good. I was a bit worry the questions would scare her off, but it's not. Non-verbal reasoning is the hardest paper for some kids, so I think it's good to start practicing early. Recommend.

Puzzles using pictures and symbols
This series of books from CPG is designed to help prepare children for taking the 11+ or Entrance exams, but in practice many of the exercises may help children generally in their school learning. My wife is reviewing the book for me as she was a Primary teacher. With Non Verbal Reasoning it is all a matter of getting used to looking at problems using pictures and symbol in different ways. This book for 7 and 8 year olds would I think be best used as spare moment activities at home or school. Many children at this age love puzzles and the booklet is illustrated in full colour with a variety of problem solving challenges. Puzzles include odd one out, cracking the code, completing a series and much more. Every section starts with a How it Works explanation, then some examples for you to try. Luckily there are answers at the back, but do be prepared to listen to your child's explanation of how they got to THEIR answer if it differs from the one in book - being able to explain your thought process out loud is a valuable skill in itself.NB it will no doubt fade away, but on initial opening the book smells unpleasantly "chemical".

Colourful and accessible
This is a really well set out workbook introducing children to non-verbal reasoning questions. Each double page has an explanation a practice and then a slightly harder challenge. This isn't a book to rush through and they might need more help than with a standard home learning workbook. But it's a very accessible book and the activities develop skills that are useful for all children, not just those aiming for the 11+

CGP make excellent resources.
You really can't beat CGP for support learning workbooks: I'm a teacher, a private tutor and a parent, and I use them all the time: They're very reasonably priced, tied to the UK national curriculum, and students find them accessible and enjoyable. Here then are 20 or so logic puzzles to prepare students over the long term for non-verbal reasoning tests, in full colour and with teaching notes. If you're a frazzled parent who needs to support your child at home and are at your wits end looking for resources, this is what you need.

This really engaged my 7 year-old son
This is fun, colourful book is very nicely put together, and is very visually appealing to children - so much so that I was able to convince my 7 year-old son that it was a puzzle book, rather than "work", leading to his voluntarily picking it up and doing it over the weekend.I got the similar verbal reasoning book at the same time. My son is more drawn to this non-verbal one, as he finds reading more effort, although both are excellent. The tests seem well-pitched to provide somewhat simplified versions of the 11+ test exam questions, while still introducing the general concepts (continuing a sequence of patterns, etc.).

Homeschool saviour
As most of the world went into lockdown and took on roles of home schooling parents these books came in mighty handy, the framework around the book I would say lacked consistency as I used for my 6 year old who is slightly advanced. Some areas were way too easy and others understandably were not easy to pick up nor explain to him. However overall they worked extremely well for us. Without them I don't think I would have managed to sit through homeschooling with a very emotional 6 year old. My advise would be to not do more than a section/page with your child esp if your child is younger than 7 or 8. As they tend to lose focus any more than 15 mins.
