Heavy, sturdy, and well seasoned. I paired this with a cast iron grill pan and it works great.

In browsing the negative reviews (I always do before a purchase) I was amazed at the negative reviews relative to rust. All I can say is that these must be people with no concept of how to manage cast iron. These arrived intact and with a wrap which indicated they were seasoned (and appeared to be). The bottom has a dimpled surface which is nice to keep from sliding around on the food in question, but not so severe to make cleaning difficult. I gave the bottom a quick scrub with soapy water and put them on the stove to dry. I doubt the seasoning is flax seed, so those wanting high heat capability, may want to strip (high heat oven) and then re-season with flax seed oil. It should be self-evident that the wood handles will need to be removed first, but I mention it anyway. The are held with two screws and will easily remove. Aside from that, a well-made CAST IRON product which will press paninis (you will need to apply the pressure of course) and will keep your bacon "flat". Care for them like any other piece of cast iron.

This would've gotten 5 stars, but it has 1 flaw.The pros: exactly what it says it is. Nicely crafted cast iron and a very good weight. Handle isn't too small or big. Flatening bacon is a set and forget process.Con: Was not seasoned at all. I've owned and used cast iron products for 26 years. This press was definitely dry, grey looking and new. Had two quarter size circles underneath that had some oil on it. Maybe someone tried to season it lol.After a good washing, some oven treatment and my flaxseed oil. It was good to go. Dark, shiny black and looking like a freshly painted car.

works great on just about everything needed to be pressed, easy to clean

Very well made. Heavy. Handle fits hand nicely. Keep in mind, this is 8.25 inches long and is too big to fit into a standard 10" cast iron skillet. I didn't think about that before ordering.😅

I use this press every time I cook bacon or hamburger patties. Makes the bacon cook flat.
