Traeger Grills Bac365 Pro Series Controller, Black

I got this to upgrade my Traeger Texas Elite 34 and love it. I like being able to use the meat probes and the temperature doesn't seem to fluctuate nearly as bad (15-20 degrees) as it did with the original controller (20-45 degrees). I saw in some of the reviews that people got different controllers than what was shown so i was hesitant about getting this but i got exactly what was advertised. It had great instructions included even though unless you're color blind you don't need them. I had the new controller installed and the wires dressed out in roughly 5 minutes, you just match the wire colors and on each plug is a colored sticker that you match the the colored sticker on the traeger wiring so the entire installation is plug and play just matching colors.

This piece replaced my old Traeger controller because the temps would vary 100-150 degrees so you could not cook accurately. I have cooked several times with this even a 10 hour cook and the temps never strayed more than 10 degrees. I am thoroughly impressed was very nervous about this fixing my issue. To be able to cook accurately now was well worth the money. It took me about 5 minutes to install no modification needed.

Although expensive, upgrading to this controller is worth it. It resolved the temperature control woes I experienced with the original controller, and gives you the ability to fine tune temp control in 25 F increments. The smoke setting also functions better with this controller. The probes work great and installation is simple. I recommend taking the bottom off underneath the hopper to access the wires. They come zip tied and you will need to cut them. After this, installation is 5 minutes. I am very happy with this product... it should come standard with all Traeger Grills. Well worth your money if you have it to burn.

I debated for several days on whether to buy a Traeger Controller or a less expensive model from someone else. I finally decided it would be best to spend the extra few dollars, and go dealer. Happy with my decision. I have used this controller several times since I purchased it. I was happy to see that it as almost always withing a couple degrees of the thermostat built into the lid. The upside is it maintains the desired temperature consistently.My only issue was the information said it would fit my Pellet BBQ. It did, but there were no instructions for the variables. The instructions were for a different unit, foreign to me. Thank goodness for the internet. I found a site that demonstrated an install for yet another unit, but close enough to mine, I was able to complete the install, successfully.Bottom line, I am a happy camper and would recommend this controller.

Grill comes up to temperature, then drops 30-40 degrees. Comes back up to temperature and does the same. No way would I smoke something using this controller. Too unstable. Maybe its defective, but it will be returned.I did return it to Amazon. Ordered one from Traeger and it did the same thing. Talked to Traeger customer service and she asked me the condition of the fire box. It looked OK to me so they sent me another controller. After the new one came (Yes, this was the third one) and it performed the same as the first 2 I looked more closely at the fire box. It had a good size hole rusted through it. It does not get as hot on high as it used to but is very accurate on other settings. Upgrading from 2 to 4 stars . They lost a star for the high heat setting.

Took about an hour to install and tried it out on some salmon filets right away. Worked great and can't wait to try something elsewith it. My Traeger is about 12 years old, so this modern controller breathes new life into the old smoker. Old controller was Low/Medium/High and marginal temperature control and temps would fluctuate. Don't forget to order the temperature sensor probe also since it does NOT shop with the controller. Stuck with Traeger controller for quality and consistency. Looked like there where other cheaper controllers but went this route for a few extra bucks.

I have had two Traeger portable grills in the past three years. The first one went back to the store because the temperatures were completely uncontrollable. The second one had the same problem so instead of returning it, I reached out to Traeger for support. After several calls and failed attempts at a solution, Traeger sent me a replacement temperature controller which worked better than the original but was far from adequate. I had to watch the grill constantly as it periodically lost control of the temperature. When I fired up the grill recently, it shut off with a "low error" at 180 degrees and shut off at a "high error" at 225 degrees. Completely useless.A friend suggested that I try this upgraded controller as it had solved the same problem he had on the same grill. I was skeptical but I purchased and installed it (an easy change out) and have to say that I am very impressed with the difference. This upgraded controller now regulates the temperature much better than the original BAC283 controller.I have to say that while I'm happy with this outcome, I am disappointed with the Traeger brand. If they have a controller that can regulate temperatures, why aren't they making that standard equipment on their products instead of making their customers have to pay extra for something that works. I like my portable grill/smoker so I tried this solution rather than throw it away and call it a complete loss.

Genuine Traeger replacement part. Easy to install and fixed my issue of (new) temperature probe not registering and grill shutting down.
