The Vicks SmartTemp Thermometer and downloadable app make it easy to take and track temperature readings for the entire family. The thermometer uses Bluetooth technology to wirelessly connect to your smartphone, delivering the large digital readout on your phone screen.

Garbage. Read reviews from app stores before purchasing. .
Can't even get the application (Android) to stay open enough to pair it. The application hasn't even been updated since August of 2015. Support is a joke. Took several emails to even explain to them ur isn't a hardware (thermometer) issue since I can't even begin to try to pair with it and takes readings yet. Had to tell them to go read the recent reviews (2.5 stars), others reported the same issue. I shouldn't have to tell them to read reviews for their own app. Got no more contact from then. App still crashes on loading and still no updates for it on the play store. Total waste of money.

Vicks app's recording function is the killer feature!
This thermometer takes readings very quickly. The first value is a often bit flaky. Subsequent readings seem a bit more trustworthy. All low-cost (e.g. Non-clinical) electronic thermometers have some inherent repeatability (getting the exact same value again and again in rapid succession) problems. But the ability to view a trend-line, and share with a healthcare provider is really valuable. But a degree or two of fluctuation is not my concern. I want to see trends: getting better vs. worse, and whether Tylenol or Motrin is having any effect (no aspirin for the kids b/c of possible risk of Reye's Syndrome). Any suspect-values are easy to delete and it takes just a moment to redo them. Before I had this, my child's pediatrician wanted a basic history of when fever first presented, what pain/fever meds were used, and how often I gave doses, and if it was effective on the fever. I had jotted all these on a notepad, but that just doesn't compare to the graph that Vicks app can produce. My notes were a bit sketchy, as was my recollection. The app allows noting when medicine is administered, and typical symptoms like sore throat, cough, aches, etc. Also, there are separate profiles for different users, so one thermometer is plenty for the whole family. The thermometer itself doesn't have a digital display, but it has a color-coded glow feature to indicate Normal or Fever temperature, which is adequate for users or situations that don't warrant looking at the exact number on the app.The Bluetooth pairing was a snap-- much easier than typical BT peripherals like cordless headphones and car stereos (Mercedes Benz--I'm looking at you). It's done through the app, not the iOS Settings panel. The thermometer can be used without the app/smartphone being connected, and just use the color-coded Normal/Fever indicator. I'd call this Babysitter mode. Later when the thermometer is activated and the app is running, the stored data will automatically upload to the app.The data in the Vicks app can then automatically be shared to the Apple Health app. Probably overkill for the average cold/flu sufferer, but for someone with a compromised immune system, like someone receiving chemotherapy, this could be a very powerful tool for informing their oncologist of their response to different types of infusions. (The cancer treatment that a family member received seemed to involve a lot of trial-and-error, with high fevers involving late night admission to the hospital.)This has the recording functionality I want, for only a few bucks more than the basic Vicks thermometer, without paying $50 for the fancy Kinsa ear thermometer, which honestly, I'm not going to be using that often (hopefully).

Decent App. Worthless hardware
I bought the thermometer because I really liked the iPhone app. The app seems to have good logging/history keeping capabilities. However, the thermometer itself was unable to connect (via Bluetooth) to either my iPad or my iPhone. I followed the instructions to the letter but would only ever get the error message of "Thermometer was not able to complete first time pairing". Since the only way to be able to read the thermometer is via the app, since there is no actual readout display, the inability to connect renders the device functionally broken. As mentioned in the instructions, I did not try to run on two devices at the same time (iPad and iPhone). I only tried connecting with one device at a time. I shut down the iPad when trying to connect the iPhone and viceversa. I even attempted to put the device being tested in airplane mode (which shuts down all radio signals) then selectively turned on ONLY Bluetooth, and stood out in the middle of my yard with just the iPhone (later the iPad), the thermometer, and myself, so as to eliminate any possible alternative radio interference. No joke. Still couldn't get the darned thermometer to connect. Even at half price, the Vicks smart temp was a waste of money.

Thermometer really wanted me to go to the doctor
I ordered this product after having zero luck with finding an accurate digital thermometer. The brand (I assume this is connected to the Vicks vapor rub folks) and the feature to track temps via an app were both part of my consideration to order this particular model. When I received this thermometer, I followed the setup instructions and started to test my temp and my wife's temp. No matter how many times we tested this, following the instructions exactly as stated, we were both showing >100F on each reading. We didn't feel ill and were unsure what to think. Since the failing performance of the other thermometers in the house is what prompted us to order this one, we didn't have anything to confirm the Vicks thermometer was accurate. We continued to test this over a period of 3 days, each time resulting in the same >100F temp reading. Since we did not get sick and knew the temp reading was inaccurate, we finally decided to return this product.I think there are a number of reviews where this worked out for them, so it may be a luck of the draw. Good luck if you decide to order this product!

POS, garbage, junk
This thing is garbage. My daughter was sick. I checked her temp with this and it said she had a temp on 107 degrees. I checked it again and it said 99.3 degrees. I checked a third time and it said 104 degrees. All within less than 5 minutes. Like I said, GARBAGE. Don't waste your time and money. Not to mention, when you need an accurate thermometer this POS will not be dependable. Keep searching for a good one.

App Not Updated for Android Does Not Sync With Note 10, 10+ or Pixel 4. Do NOT buy!
This is worthless without the app, the app is worthless without updates. Enough said. Do not buy unless you really like returning items.

APP DOES NOT WORK WITH NEWEST ANDROID OS
I have a Pixel 4 with the Android 10. I was able to install the app (which was last updated in 2015!!!!). Unfortunately, the thermometer won't pair with my phone; bluetooth menu doesn't even see it. (This isn't the only bluetooth device I have that lost compatibility with my OS).I did pair it with my iPad and it works great. It's a great thermometer and system and I love having the temp history and being able to see the ups and downs every day, especially with COVID. Just don't use it if you only have Android devices.
