Sony UX Type II 90 Minute Audio Cassette Tape

So you have to know that this isn't a super high quality Type II tape. Just looking at the tape you'll notice that it's a dark brown color rather than the mirror black you normally see on most Type II's. This is a step down from the Maxell XLII but a step up from standard Type I tapes (a step above Sony's HF tape).I'm using this tape to get tape saturation for drum samples on an old Portastudio. I could use this to record entire tracks to tape or possibly to put a whole record on tape but I would use something like a Maxell XLII if I had a choice. So for me this is good for sampling and getting that lofi tape sound but not recording music. That's not to say the sound quality is bad. It's great. The bass response is more present here and the high frequencies are rolled off a bit similar to how Type I tapes sound except it's just a little better. It doesn't sound as muffled as a Type I but still has a lot of the same qualities that Type I has. It's almost like a very high quality Type I. I like the way bass frequencies get saturated on this tape while not sounding like there's a blanket on your speakers.

Get less made to the public, but usable.
