Is it totally necessary to have the Amiibo to fully understand the game?

Amiibo won't be necessary for the main story. Instead they provide assistance, unlock extra content, or raise the difficulty of the game:* Link and Toon Link Amiibos will replenish arrows.* Zelda and Shiek Amiibos will restore hearts.* Ganandorf Amiibo will boost the game's difficulty.* Wolf Link Amiibo will unlock the "Cave of Shadows" bonus dungeon.

does anyone know what the wolf link amiibo is going to do?

Nintendo hasn't revealed yet on what the amiibo will do with Twilight Princess HD. Nintendo has also said that some data on the wolf link amiibo can be carried over to the new Zelda title coming to Wii U next year. No answer on what it'll do either, we'll just have to wait and see.

Will this come with a bonus soundtrack?

News just came out that the soundtrack will only be available from Gamestop in North America. If you are from Europe, all game + amiibo bundle preorders come with the soundtrack.

Will I need a wiimote/nunchuk bundle to play this on Wii u?

I'm glad this supports the gamepad (with a map display) or pro controller. I do think gamepad/controllers are better than wiimote waggle anyway.
