Works great for an in-home call center job
I bought this because I found a part-time job as an in-home call center agent a couple of months ago, and I needed a headset along with other very specific items. I followed the set-up instructions exactly and have had only one problem that had nothing to do with that. Once in a while callers said they couldn't hear me, even though the sound was turned all the way up. I accidentally bumped the base station the other day with my elbow while this was going on and it cleared up on its own. I took a good look at the little 12-inch cable included and discovered it was hard and twisted, and probably had wires broken inside. I took the handset cord off my spare wired phone (they're cheap, keep an extra one around if you depend on your equipment!) and now the problem is all fixed. If I have no further problems with this headset, it will completely meet my requirements. I took off one star for the cheap little cord that caused me aggravation at work. Do affix the little cord clip to your clothes so you don't jerk on the cord when you move, and be careful with the other end of the cord as well. There are tiny wires inside that are seem delicate. If you have a similar job and can't have unscheduled down time, it wouldn't hurt to have an extra head set, wired telephone, and extra cords stocked. Very few local retailers even stock this stuff anymore and you'll be in a bind if something happens to your equipment. You could accidentally slam a dangling cord in a drawer (happens all the time at my day job), or the pets could ruin any exposed cords in the home office in a matter of seconds. (I have cats who like to chew on stuff and I don't let them near any kind of cord or cable.) I know I don't want to risk losing my part-time gig over something utterly preventable like that.

Awesome Device if You can Set It Up!
I work as tech support on a database product so I am on the phone ALL DAY. After 2 years of holding the phone to my ear while I write - I decided to look into headsets. My work place dumped $150 on a headset that didn't work and since then haven't bought another. This is an awesome headset - if you can figure out how to set it up. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to get this working. Like most tech people I threw away the manual and just plugged everything in hoping that it would work. Well, the volume was super low - the listen/speak buttons didn't do anything - after a few other configuration settings I finally went back to the trash can to pick up the manual.Set it up EXACTLY as the manual tells you to - Plug your phone's handset into the handset on the plantronics device - plug your plantronics headset into the south end of the plantronics device and then plug the plantronics telephone cord into your telephone's handset cord.If you do that then the listen/speak volume will work - the mute button and headset/handset button will work allowing you to use your phone normally.Once configured correctly callers told me they heard me VERY clearly - especially if I turned the Tx Level to hi. I have my listen volume ALL THE WAY DOWN and it is blasting my ear out.If you do not set it up exactly as the manual tells you to - you will not be able to use your phone's headset, your phone's speakerphone, and your Plantronic's headset at your wish.Read the manual - it is a must this time :) - this HEADSET ROCKS.

Product is great, if you have compatible phone, but instructions are week.
I have had a similar device from the same company for 15 years. It just started getting unreliable so I got this device. It was about 1/4 the price of the original product, and has a cheaper feel with the knobs and stuff, but I expected that for the price and this is not an issue. The headset also has a much cheaper feel to it and will not likely take 15 years of punishment like my last one (price was right though). The setup was identical to my original device, but the headset did not work at first. I followed all the instructions (actually I did not, because I never read unless there is an issue, and there was this time). I noticed, when I finally read over the instructions, there were two controls that were only referenced in the device diagram. The use of these were not mentioned in any setup steps (Configuration Slider and TX levels). I started randomly playing with them and at some point the headset started working. This was not mentioned under the trouble shooting solutions either. The Tone dial also helps improve things, but I believe this was described.I am not going to take off for a simple documentation limitation, so I still give it a 5. The sound quality was great (better than my old device) once I played around with these undocumented settings. Now if it just lasts half as long I will be thrilled. Also note that the headset holder, which I did not plan to use, does not properly fit the thick headband. You could fix this with some pliers if you really wanted to.

These headsets (my second one for second home office) are second to none. Comfortable to use and clear sound. Can use with regular phone. Unplug receiver and plug this in.

Great Headset
I bought this headset because I always used various Plantronics headset systems in the past.I am truly satisfied with this headset based on the following factors:1) Set up was quick and easy. Just follow the set up instructions and you are good-to-go.2) You can adjust your listening and speaking volume.3) Easy to use.4) Compatible with my Panasonic phone.5) The price was great compared to other websites.I highly recommend this headset.

Too old for Yealink VoIP phones
I used this headset at my previous work for years, and I just loved it! So when I got a new job, I bought another one to use there. However, for some reason, it doesn't work with the Yealink VoIP phone I have. The tone control, mute button, volume control, and all other controls on the little black box don't work, as if the language it speaks is too old for the VoIP phone. Or maybe was the new one I received defective? I still give it three stars because it's a great headset for the price, but it's not working with the phone I'm using now.

Awesone Standard Phone Headset!
I used this at a company several years ago. I am working from home and did not want to pay for a software VOIP Setup. I remembered this little darling! Works perfectly you just hook it up to the Standard Telephone receiver!
