HP Pro Mix is great for Earth Boxes

This is a wonderful potting mix for growing vegetable plants in Earth Boxes. It has the right amount of peat moss 70 percent or more, and perlite for aeration and drainage Growing media should be light and fluffy when dry and spongy when wet.

Great Stuff

If you grow by amending your own soil this is the best out there. Perfect for my deck garden

I've found this to be the best for my indoor plant grows

Great product. I add soil amendments to it, and get lush growth from my plants.

Very Satisfied

I used this soil mix this winter with native plant Salvia dorrii cuttings (desert purple sage) - indoors under humidity domes with artificial light and heat pads.My success rate was about 90%.Last year I used a variety of other commercial soils including Miracle Grow seed starter mix but I had miserable results, 20% or less, and constant problems with mold.Zero mold this year. Since soil was the only variable I changed, I can only conclude that it was this soil mix that was responsible for my high cutting success rate. For me, well worth the cost, as these native plants are difficult to obtain in nurseries.

Not bad not great.

It's not bad it's not great. Peat is a tricky medium for me coming from Rockwool and Coco. I just wanted to try something different. I'll probably go back to Rockwool once I'm done with this bag.

Great product

Has Mico and lime in it already. My favorite thing is after my drybacks between waterings it doesn't become water repellent like most soils I use where water sits on top or runs down sides of pot. Drastically reduces water time due to this. I will only use this from now on despite the price. Nobody ever said growing quality "flowers" is a cheap hobby.

An actual picture of the product, the soil, not plants

Thought I should write a review and include an actual picture of the product, instead of posting useless pictures of my plants and garden setup. It's dead on accurate in its listed composition in descending order from greater to less, which is spaghnum peat moss (65-75%), perlite, cal and dol limestone, wetting agent. There aren't any bits of wood chunks at all, maybe an occasional tiny twig. For 2.8cu or 83.7qt/79l, it's lightweight because the media is completely dry. This means you'll need to properly hydrate it before loading into pots. This will require something large to mix into, pour in water in increments, and really work it in. Like hydrating flour. It also seems sparse in preloaded fertilizers, so you will probably want to blend in some when you work with it. It's not as much as a pot it and forget it that big brand name yellow/green bag is. Sure you can blend your own peat and perlite for cheap, but this takes out the PH balancing dance out of the equation, straight out of the Pro Mix bag is a PH of about 5.2-6.2, good slight acidity almost all houseplants want.
