Can I ask what happens when you do turn the faucet on? We have a dog that has taught himself how to turn on the faucet to play in the water.

The faucet lock seals the faucet opening when installed. if the dog or a person turns the handle, no water will come out. Inside the lock its rubber, when installed, it's a tight seal to the faucet.

How does the lock hold up to the outside weather?

Not well without WD-40 sprayed into the lock, but even after sticking that does eventually allow the key to rotate and the fix will last months (Florida, hot, humid, with a rainy season).

Can this work with a hose attached to it?

NO ..... The lock essentially blocks the attachment of a hose and will not allow water flow even if the faucet is turned on.

Do they fit 1/2 inch faucets

Hello Yale. The lock fits any standard hose bibb that has a 3/4" valve outlet diameter. I believe that 3/4" is the standard but I know they also make 1/2" outlets also. I have not been able to locate any 1/2" hose bibb locks for you but a company called Webstone Valves make a 1/2" hose bibb with a locking handle. I wish I could have been more helpful. Good luck.
