Save the Headache!
I would say that for the price you just simply cannot beat this flash. I never use this flash directly on the hot shoe, I use it with the available YN622N II which is simply amazing. I photography weddings and was previously using SB910s and triggers to remotely fire them, these have triggers built in! I will say this doesn't seem as bright as the SB910 at full power(I can deal with this) but the ease of use and the full control of the remote flashes(better IMO than Pocket Wizards) is just wonderful. If you're on the fence get a few of these and the YN622N II for the price of one Nikon SB910 and go to town! I attached some photos all taken with the YN685 flashes. Check out [...] for more examples.(UPDATE)Okay, so after using these for a few months I still like them. With that being said I dropped these to 4 stars because I have already had a battery door break on me. Not a huge problem just jumped on Ebay and ordered a new door, 5 bucks or so. Just be careful with the battery door and enjoy!

Best way to get RF TTL for Nikon shooters
The Yongnuo flash can be triggered with radio frequency signal from their transmitter or another flash which with Nikon's own products requires using two $600 SB-5000 speedlights. Instead of spending $1200 for the Nikon RF solution I spent less than $200 for this flash and the Yongnuo YN-622N-KIT. Adding a second flash will still put the total cost at half the cost of a single Nikon SB-5000 speedlight which cannot be used by itself for RF wireless TTL.The flash does not have the output of a $600 SB-5000 or a $500 Nikon SB-910 but that is to be expected and seldom if ever do I need the full output from a flash and if I am shooting in bright sunlight then even the Nikon speedlights do not provide enough light to be effective and I use Quantum Qflash. For Nikon shooters the Yongnuo is the best solution for obtaining RF TTL flash at this point in time. Considering NIkon's lack of vision with the SB-5000 this is not likely to change in the next several years.

Pretty good, but no optical slave.
Pros - works well, has built in wireless receiver.Cons - large (bigger than my other full size flashes). Does not include an optical slave mode! Also - there is an option to use a 622 transceiver in between this flash and your camera which allows this flash to "control" other off camera flashes. In theory it sounds great, but I was not getting good results. I wanted the flash on camera (with transceiver in between) to be in TTL and my off camera flashes in manual. I can't say exactly what was happening but the on camera flash TTL was NOT working as it did without the transceiver in between. Better to use the transmitter on camera (with LCD, no hot shoe pass through) and have the key TTL light on a stand next to you (if you want to use other lights in groups).

Gone bad within less than half a year.
Purchased two of these and had a chance to take them through a number of indoor shoots in the past year.Overall - I am very disappointed. One stopped working about a couple of months after purchase - both the optical sensor and connection to radio just wouldn't make the flash unit fire. The only way it would work is if it's in a hot shoe on the camera. Oftentimes the flash would work for about 20 minutes and then stop reacting to photosensor or radio. After about 6 months the second unit started exhibiting same behaviors. Units are not overheating, full batteries - just stop responding to sensor or connector. I didn't expect much from these, but had they at least worked as advertised - I wouldn't be concerned. But my uses with these are few and far between, so they are not overtaxed, not constantly overheated, kept in cool dry place in the pouches they came in, used indoors only with three different brands of rechargeables (Eneloops, Energizer, and Amazon) and PocketWizard radios. Not going to spend a single dime on this brand anymore. At this point, I am just saving up for another Nikon SB unit.

Works with Fujifilm X series
I won't get into all the details as others have covered it but with the YN622n-TX controller you can have multi channel off camera TTL that uses UHF for communication and it works with X-Series Fuji camera. I've used it with X-Pro2, X100f, X100s and X-T2 and it's worked perfectly with all. You must use the Nikon, NOT the Canon version. Bonus that the X100 series camera's sync at very high speeds because of their leaf shutter so shooting formals at a wedding in bright sun is no problem. Power could be better as they have about 2 stops less power than the high end Canon or Nikon strobes but at 1/4 the price you can always buy 2 to double the power. The camera's flash system does most of the work but even in difficult side lit low-key photos like I attached, the YN685 does a great job.

Worked great! For a short while...
Bought 2 of these in March 2017. Worked great! Nice bright pop. Last month, one died during a senior portrait session. Turns on, responds to the remote trigger, just won't fire. No worries, I've got a second one, just can't backlight. Second one croaked on me yesterday halfway through a team portrait session, leaving me screwed. Same issue, responds to the trigger, but won't fire. On anything... Hotshoe, with the Test button, anything. These weren't used very rigorously, either. I always kept them in their cases, and never dropped them. They worked great, when they worked. I'm moving on to studio lights, but rather disappointed, I really wanted these to work.

If this is the best one out there
I ditched all my Nikon flashes and went with 3 of these and the yn-622n-tx and I've shot several events and they've worked very well. The whole setup cost me the same or less than one Nikon flash that would do the same. So i'm a fan. If this is the best one out there... I don't know... but it has worked for me.

I wish that this had a built in radio transmitter like the 560 VI flashes it's a bummer that it can only be triggered and not act as a master as well. It's nice to have the TTL option like my SB910 (which it is the back up).
