Q: Does this really block out light?

Yes, very much so! I worried about this too before I purchased, but gave them a try anyhow. We bought the red ones. They definitely block the light! My sons room gets direct morning sun until around 10-11am and it's very dark in his room the entire time. You won't be disappointed.

Yes I bought the pink ones. The color is fairly deep more like a dark rose color which I like. My plan is to put up some sheer panels with some other colors to make it less of a flat pink. It depends what you want these for though. If they are for the bedroom I personally find the Deconovo pink and silver with wavy lines are nicer. I Have the sun zero ones in my living room and they are fine but I am looking forward to completing my plan with some sheer panels probably purple and red to complement the deep pink

Q: Are the red curtains a blood bright red or a deep red?

They are definitely more on the bright side. Closer to a cherry than deep crimson.
