Excellent Value
I usually wait a couple of months before I review. And before I purchase anything, I read over as many reviews as possible, especially the 1-star, 2-star and 3-star reviews, provided they are thoughtful reviews (one can always get a lemon from any manufacturer). However, since I’ve used this drill/driver constantly for the past four weeks, I feel I can give a decent opinion after such steady use. Just note that I’m not an expert when it comes to power tools. Anyway, in that four-week time frame, I’ve beefed up my front door, outside side garage door, garage door leading into the house and my bedroom door. That means I drove #10 x 3” long screws to reinforce the hinges and strike plates. On each of my four doors I also added quick-flip door locks, each with those same #10 x 3” long screws (three for each lock). BTW, those locks are great, but their screws weren’t long enough or of high quality. Obviously, one won’t know how solid this drill/driver is this early on. Nor will one know how long this drill/driver will last, especially a weekend warrior, but I’ve had good luck with a light-duty drill/driver from the same company, and have used that $30 drill/driver for almost a decade. There are several things I like about this drill/driver. It’s surprisingly light and feels nicely balanced in the hand. Once I charged the lithium battery, it lasted throughout those four weeks of fairly heavy use and still has a charge. And driving 3” long x #10 screws through the frame, the studs and the wood doors isn’t exactly an easy task, even when one drills a pilot hole (my 1/8” drill bit is only 1-1/2” long). I sure couldn’t do it with my light-duty drill/driver without a lot of difficulty. Of course, getting the right type of screws (I prefer torx-head) and scraping them over a slightly damp bar of soap sure helped. I was really surprised how easily, smoothly and quickly these screws went in, and without any sort of strain or kickback. Having a two-speed drill/driver is pretty standard, but very useful. The 11-position clutch is good, but of course it will take a bit of time to know what setting is best for each task. I also found the LED light very handy, and it lights up the area where it is actually needed. No, this drill/driver does not come in a carrying case. No, you don’t get a set of drive bits or drill bits (I received both with my old drill/driver, including a carrying case), but it does come with one double-ended drive bit (phillips/slot-head). Yes, you get a lithium battery and charger. My older light-duty drill/driver uses a quick-insertion, quick-release hex chuck, which I really liked. I could quickly pop in a bit and quickly release it, saving time. With this new drill/driver, one must tighten the chuck by hand. But that’s no big deal, since I bought a drive bit package (mainly for the torx-head bits), and it came with a quick-release adapter hex bit.All-in-all, I think this drill/driver is an excellent value (it’s a steal at the price it is going for at the time of this review — 59 bucks). And if you’re like me — a weekend warrior who does odd jobs around the house when in the mood — I would highly recommend this model. If you’re a professional or are consistently doing major work, then you should probably use professional equipment. As far as my rating goes, I give this drill/driver 9 out of 10, or a 5-star rating. And at this price, how can you go wrong (provided it lasts a reasonable amount of time)?

Reasonable cost, very powerful, nicely balanced, very good battery life.
Love this; bought a second for my son. The power is amazing. I used all of my strength to screw a difficult screw into a piece of hardwood and the drill kept up with solid power. I really like the fact that it has a dial that can be adjusted to control the torque (allows you to control the amount of drill power). In addition, the drill has variable speed control. A light trigger pull and the drill goes slowly, a heavier pull on the trigger and the drill speeds up.For the price and the features, you can't do much better.

Not terribly powerful but small, light weight and easy to handle
I have an 18 volt Hitachi drill and this B&D was obtained to become a "backup" But I will observe that the B&D chuck is smaller and the power is just not there compared to the Hitachi. I now use the Hitachi for drilling big holes or putting in long constructions screws and the B&D for smaller work. That seems to work out well. Just having two drills saves a lot of time switching bits. So, if you need real power keep looking, if you need a light weight small drill this is a pretty good one with good battery life. I used it all day with one battery change and the Li-ion battery charges fast.

Holds up very well.
This is a nice quick to use, and easy to you drill. I was suspect about the "power" of the drill, but I am impressed. For do it yourself projects it is great, and sure beats dragging out an extension cord and plugging it in.

Tools are good for making stuff
Works great. Light is helpful. This light is not extremely bright. I have to say it is well built but not industrial grade. This is great for the home owner. Medium duty tasks would not recommend for construction. The convenience is the batteries swap out with some larger ones and interchange with other tools from the set. All the tools I own in this product line are well crafted and medium duty tools. These are good for all that crap the wife thinks up while I am doing the other stuff on her list from last week.

Size Matters !
I was so disappointed the 2-speed selector of my first drill failed because this drill is:- Small enough to fit between the studs of unfinished walls - I wish Craftsman would make a drill of this size and price-point (or, at least, close)- Powerful enough for DIY carpenter/ repair projects- an Excellent fit and weight for my hands (yup Right and Left)- Delicate enough with settings of the chuck clutch to protect the light-duty materials of pre-fab, unassembled selves, consoles, and tables when fastening the pieces together.- and the LED light shines upward from the battery housing giving a preferred angle of illumination to the drill/ driver workOne does not need to pay 200+ dollars for a capable compact drillIs Stanely listening?

Two thumbs up
I used the need to assemble multiple Adirondack chairs as an excuse to buythis drill and am very glad I did. It did that job and a whole bunch more since then. The multiple speeds are great and the adjustable torque is great to avoid stripping screws. I’ve done loads of pilot holes and screws in a single session without any lag or battery issues and have not felt underpowered even once. I considered dewalt, Bosch and others but this one works great for me and it’s a great value for the money so far.
