Just tried it and love it
My daughter wanted just the tip of her hair purple & after reading a bunch of reviews I decided to try this brand based on it being semi permanent, low smell, essentially one step and easy on the hair. Here are my thoughts immediately after dying:-Yes, it will stain EVERYTHING. Bleach works on hard surfaces. If you're gonna be lazy like me and not wear gloves you're gonna get dyed hands. If she'd done her entire head I'd say definitely put an oil barrier on face/neck.- Strong smells give me headaches & my daughter's sensory issues mean there's no way she could deal with the smell of 'normal' hair dye. This has only a light smell and it's not the typical horrible chemical smell.-Consistency is similar to a think hair conditioner, it's nice that it doesn't drip.- It comes in the container it's pictured in, so a brush is helpful for getting it out since you can't just squirt it on your head like bottle dyes, but scooping it out works too.-I really liked that the instructions are printed on the inside of the box so there's no need for extra paper waste.Directions state leave in for 30 mins, longer for a bolder color. My daughter has virgin hair but I wasn't sure if it was light enough to get the color she hoped for. I left the dye in for about 40 mins, put plastic over it while waiting (mostly because after 2 minutes she wanted to rinse it out and all her fidgeting would've had purple everywhere), and hit it with the blow drier just enough to warm it up before rinsing. Not sure if the last 2 steps made any difference, but she loves how it turned out. It's a little darker, but that's due to her natural color & it not being bleached first. Her hair looks amazingly healthy too.I'll definitely get this again when she wants a new color. I'll try to post an update on how well it lasts. We have highly chlorinated & hard city water, so it's pretty harsh on color, but we'll see how it goes.

Great vibrant colors
It has very good pigmentI got the genie one to redo my purple from having it got done at a salon the color was fading and my hair had turned blondish and white 😯But I used this once and it turn those colors to a nice and bright purpleI honestly like the color more than the one from the salon and for 150 cheaper sure I’ll choose this over that any timeJust make sure you have gloves and need supplies to apply

I Love Lime Crime Colors!
I love Lime Crime Hair Colors! (The picture is 2 weeks after using Genie.) There is no mixing involved, which is a huge plus. I use Genie, Pony and Mochi, depending on my mood. I don't bleach my hair before coloring; the natural color is medium brown and some greys, and I find that Genie, probably because it is so dark, lasts the longest. I usually wash my hair twice a week and the colors last anywhere from 2-4 months, which is pretty good for semi-permanent coloring. The only reason I gave 4 stars on longevity is because some might find the color fades too fast, but I am EXTREMELY happy with Lime Crime and it's the only color I use on my hair. Plus it smells fantastic!

Know What You're Buying....
I have been coloring my hair for many years and entered a purple phase about a year ago. I couldn't find a purple that I really liked, let alone a true violet. So, this was the color I was looking for. The problem? It's a stain. Not a semi-permanent color. Not a permanent color. A stain. What does that mean? It doesn't cover your gray/white hairs like you would expect it to for one thing. After about 2 washes, the color comes off the roots and around the forehead to expose the hair beneath. It also doesn't like to stick to the new virgin root growth either. It is more expensive than the other boxed permanent color I have purchased in stores and I honestly didn't want to buy/try it. My hair dresser used it on another client and it was around Prime Day, so I bought a few jars. Only use about half jar at a time. Good for long lasting if I wanted it to last. Now, have to use a different permanent color purple on the roots and then pull Genie through the rest of my hair. It takes my hair dresser 1 hour to do so, and my hair isn't that long. The gel is that thick and doesn't want to spread onto the length. She tried it on wet hair and it seems to go on a little better.I tried to sit for 2 hours the first time and agreed to try 1 hour under heat. Because it took so long to apply, my tailbone was killing me and I had to give up after 45 minutes. We always use a color lock afterward, but Genie still came off - on my shirt, on my pillowcase, on my sweater and of course, stained my shower floor. We use the lock for about 5 minutes now instead of the recommended 2 and it works a lot better. Stained all of my shirts for that first month as well.As always, try at your own risk, but know what you are getting into. Product really doesn't tell you what it is and your results are dependent upon that information. Not a happy camper and can't wait to move on to my next solid permanent shade. Good luck.

Great if you want something long lasting. Not great if you want short term color.
I'm normally dark blonde. This product was very easy to use. I wanted it for a couple weeks of fun color for football playoffs. The first photo is day one. The second photo is a month later. Still very purple. The third photo is about 6 weeks later. In bright light it was still lavender. I ended up bleaching my hair platinum to get rid of it and there's still some very light lavender in the front section. So definitely get this for long term color but I wouldn't do this if you expect out to wash out in a few washes. And if you're blonde it will leave your hair very dark when it starts to wash out.
