Seems to work just fine. Nice combination of 1G and 10G ports.
I’m using this in an unmanaged home network. I’ve been upgrading the connections between my workstations and servers to 10G. This provides a really nice combination of ports in the office. Allows me to connect in a10G run to my main workstations, a other 10G run to my servers in the next room and plenty of 1G ports for connections to printers, my internet connection, and off to entertainment systems around the house. And the SFP port will come in handy for a future backup server I want to locate in a work shed on the property to provide a remote backup in case of disaster.I’m just using it in its default configuration. Have not tried connecting to its web server or modifying any settings as the default seems fine for what I need.Unlike others who said it seems to run really hot, the temperature doesn’t seem overly high compared to a couple 5 port 10G and 2.5G switches I have. I did put teller feet on it (about 3/8 inch) than the very low ones they provide in the box to provide a bit better air flow around the bottom. This send like it would be a good change for the manufactured to make. Also I’m not using quite all the ports currently (6 of 8 1G, 2 of 3 10G, and the SFP port is unused.I’ve only had it a couple days, but quite happy with the purchase so far. Seems like good value fir the cost.

It works great 👍👍👍
I modified mine and wall mounted, have not had a heat issue once, I ran fiber to a Media server and nice 10gb transfers. I static iped the switch and plan to utilize the vlan feature once I upgrade my router, was impressed as a test and called they're tech support and wow English speaking and was knowledgeable as far as the product, I only said I will need to route the packets with a vlan port from router and they acknowledged so they know their product. I'm not worried about the warranty for my minor modification. Definitely an inexpensive way to upgrade your network speed, Ideally I will hook a 10gb router in play in a few weeks then or look at another Zyxel product that has more fiber connections and make the whole network fiber backbone! Yes I know my mod isn't perfect, but good enough, you could also use heat sink compound and put a lot on the 10gb end of the aluminum heat sink to help. Dremel works good with steady hand. My day job is Network everything so I want small secure manageable network for home, I respect the geeks out there that want a rack in their basement and full blown, I'm just older now and like to do other things. I have all the same power with these little space saving devices as they do. The new TPLink BE24000 might be added.

Great performance at a great price! What's not to like?
I got this switch to replace a TP-Link TEG-S380 which is also 8 ports, 2.5 Gbps, unmanaged. The two switches seem quite similar in appearance and the price is also similar. However with the TP-Link, I noticed intermittent disconnects on one port, so I returned that one and got this Zyxel in its place. So far I've had no issues at all with the Zyxel. I confirmed data throughput at very nearly 2.5 gbps, and I haven't observed any dropped connections. The only downside is that the switch does run hot, just like the TP-Link. The case reaches around 105-110F, meaning the internal components are hotter than that. I got a router fan base for it, and using that it stays nice and cool. In my limited experience, all the multi-gigabit devices I've tested (including the comparable TP-Link switch) run on the hot side compared to 1-gigabit devices which have been around much longer.

Switch works flawlessly
This switch is my primary switch under the house, so it goes through both hot and cold depending on the season. I've never had to power cycle it, it just always works. I did have a defective dongle fry one of the ports but that is in no shape or form the switches fault.

Solid Performer with Plug and Play Capability
I used to have a managed switch for my small home office, made by one of the mainstream pc/networking firms with a lifetime warranty, and a price to boot. Well the reality is I didn't need most of the functionality of a managed switch, and IMHO lifetime warranties don't make a whole lot of sense when it comes to IT and networking evolution. So, this Zyxel unit more than fits my needs. Super fast, plug and play, silent. No issues to date with multiple PC's and a Synology NAS on the switched network. At this price point, it's a great piece of hardware. The reason for 4 stars is that it runs hot. I took the recommendations of many and purchased an aluminum heat sink. The switch sits on the heatsink and now it just feels warm to the touch. Perhaps this is just what happens with multi-gig switches, just as we see with new pc/laptop processors, but there's nothing easily retrievable in terms of company information on the heat generation and life expectancy, so I paid extra money for a heatsink, and I'm rating accordingly.Yes, I will defintely consider another Zyxel switch should my capacity needs change, or should this fizzle out in a few years. Time will tell.

Good Product!
I does what I wanted it to. It provides high speed connection to my audio-visual devices. No noise since it is low power and has no fan. Setup was easy, the size was compact and the shell is made of aluminum which will help with dispersing heat.

This thing runs HOT.
This is the second Zyxel 5-Port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Unmanaged Switch I have, it runs hot also. hot enough I have a USB fan on it, the status LED's work now and then. I hope this one will last long enough to find a replacement. The 1st Zyxel 5-Port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Unmanaged Switch quite working after about 1 hour. It was very hot and then just quite. Amazon replaced it with no problem and the return was easy. People use this at your risk.UP DATE: The replacement switch has failed in less than 24 hours run time. The status LED's were not working when I removed the switch from service. I reinstalled my 6 year old Gigabit switch, my system is back up.
