Q: How much do the butterfly larvae cost using the enclosed coupon?

They are regularly $17.95 but discounted to $8.95 with the certificate. This includes five larvae, food, cup, lid, shipping and handling. Or, you can use caterpillars or butterflies you catch outside as well.

Q: Does it have a solid bottom so you can add dirt?

The bottom is vinyl. You could and dirt but it would be a disaster. I cut out circles of newspaper for lining. I pulled these papers out and destroy them when they have become 2 full of caterpillar droppings. Thank you for asking.

Q: If these are painted lady Caterpillar than why are there Monarchs on the box?

Caterpillars don't come in the kit - they are sold separately. You can purchase painted lady butterflies from our recommended grower, or, raise any caterpillar type you want. If you find Mondarch's you can certainly grow them. Also works for moths and all other types of flying critters. Difference: While their color scheme may be similar to monarch butterflies, painted ladies have eyespots on the underside their wings in addition to brown coloring on both sides. Painted ladies lack the vein pattern that monarchs are best known for. ... Some observers have spotted more than 100 painted ladies in a single garden!

Yes we did our growing process indoors. The entire process took about 10-12 days from the day we got them to the day they were released.
