I bought one over a year ago just to stash in my emergency supplies kit. However, it didn't stay there for very long. The V800 is just too useful to not use!I frequently build, repair, and tinker with both hands, so the comfortable headstrap has been a Godsend while I examine tiny, fiddly components or the innards of an archaic computer. The V800 is light and doesn't weigh down my head, nor protrude too far. The lamp is mounted to the strap with a hinge on the bottom so it is easy to adjust the pitch to illuminate whatever I'm currently hacking on. (There's a 90° range from straight ahead to straight down.)I doubt this is the "best" headlamp in the world, but I am giving it a 5-star review because I cannot find a single flaw that affects me. This is as close to perfect as I could imagine a headlamp being.That said, you are not me, so here are some reasons I could imagine someone *else* might not want this light:* The V800 uses a single LED, so the beam is rather narrow. That's not a big deal for me since it is wide enough to illuminate my hands and the work I'm holding. In fact, I didn't even notice how narrow the beam was until I checked while writing this review. (Perhaps the ease with which I can move my head to look at things makes it seem wider?) I wouldn't use the V800 for something, like riding a bike, where you need a wide angle of view.* The buttons require *significant* force to push, so this would not be good for people with arthritis or weak fingers. Again, this is something I didn't even notice until writing the review since it "just works" for me. There V800 has a place to put your thumb on the bottom, making it natural to squeeze to turn it on, which is what I do. Unfortunately for cats, an opposable thumb is required: the elastic cannot keep it on your head given the force it takes to press the button.* I don't use the red "night vision" light, but I notice that it cannot be dimmed. This might be okay when walking a dimly lit trail in a forest. But, it would be blindingly bright if one wanted to, say, view shooting stars on a moonless night in the countryside.* At least on the model I received, using this headlamp means everyone will see the slogan "Feeling Alive" emblazoned on your head in large letters (72pt Arial Black). I think that's a proper sentiment for the emergency flashlight in my survival kit, but I could imagine that other people may not be quite as sanguine about becoming a living meme.Now that I've listed every downside I could hypothesize, here are some of the very real upsides I've noticed:* The batteries have lasted a long time ,* The light is plenty bright for my needs,* The buttons are conveniently placed,* It turns off with a single press of a button (unlike some other headlamps which require multiple pushes),* Headband does not need to be very tight to stay in place,* Hinged angle is actually very useful for handwork,To conclude, this Vitchelo V800 headlamp is so good, I am buying a second one so I can have one stored away for emergencies and one I use every day.

3 settings for just the white flashlights: either settings 1 or 2, but 3 is both settings 1 and 2 combined. Red lights constant or flashing, effective. Ilike taking my dog(s) out hiking, either around 2400 or 0400. The flashing red lights come in handy when we need to walk through the town on our way to the trail. Able, as a motorist to clearly spot. Using glow stick necklace around my dog's neck help as well too.

I purchased this for a trip to the Maine North Woods: it gets REALLY dark up there!This headlamp puts out a quite bright light that makes it easy to find your way.It works great for reading at night, too.

I bought this for astronomy. I have a purpose-made red light flashlight that works very well, but it requires both hands. When lifting a 40-pound equatorial head, I typically don't have a third arm to hold a red flashlight, so this comes in handy. It also adjust angle easily so you can point it down or straight forward. For my purposes I keep pointed to the ground, as most who use it for astronomy will.It is not advisable to bring to star parties, but for observing alone or with friends/neighbors, it is perfect. That folks at star parties would detest this light has nothing to do with the light itself - they hate all headlamps. Unfortunately, flashlights require two hands, so... Be careful not to hit the wrong button (red light is on the left) to turn it on or you can hit the white light button. It can be easy to make that mistake and at a star party any white flashlight is frowned upon. The red light shines in two modes: flashing and constant. The white light (in the center) shines in more modes and is adjustable for brightness. This would be absolutely perfect for astronomy if the red light could also be dimmed (as it is, it is pretty darn good). I do not observe in particularly dark locations so the red light is not too bright for my tastes, though some might find it to be too bright, or possibly not bright enough. Any ability to adjust in more modes for the red light would solve that issue. For me it doesn't ruin my night vision, or what little I get from where I typically observe.The white light in the center is good for any other time you need a headlamp I assume. The ability to adjust the angle is nifty, it is easy to adjust one-handed, and stays in position well. It is also lightweight.For those nights alone at the telescope, this is a great product. For those of you who like to go star parties, this will not replace your handheld red light flashlight - nothing on your head will. But if you are anything like me, you have put your flashlight in your mouth while screwing in the equatorial head on the tripod, or adjusting the height of the tripod and making sure it is level, or connecting the camera to the computer. You've also misplaced your flashlight and used your telephone as a light to search for it, negating much advantage to having a red light flashlight in the first place. This solves all of those problems.Now if the manufacturer makes an adjustable brightness (more and less bright) function for the red light mode, I will certainly be ordering that. A dedicated, red light headlamp would also be useful, but that is a niche market at best. You need both of your hands. You still need to see. You need to protect your night vision. You don't want to need expensive dental work because you tripped and fell with a flashlight in your mouth. You need this.

I purchased this item because my eye sight isn't what it used to be. I play a lot with my stereos, changing cables rearranging the equipment and it was very difficult to find the connectors, the colors, etc. without enough lighting. It has made my fiddling with the systems a whole lot easier. Not to mention the rebooting of the different cable tv boxes. I have a friend that for years he has used a light like this one because he runs during the dark morning hours and can see his way towards where he is running. Regarding the lifetime of the batteries I still don't know, its still on the ones that it brought.
