From Curt's wife: If you are crocheting with fine yarn and are putting two crocheted pieces together, using Insul-Bright in the middle will work. It works great with fabric.

Q: Will this work as insulating batting in a quilt to hang over a non-insulated window?

It might but it would be expensive and need piecing. There are undoubtedly other products on the market that would work better. It is great for small projects.

Q: Can you use this to make self warming dog mats?

Not sure what you mean by self warming. Would have to investigate to give answer. Item is great for potholders. Keeps heat away from your hands.

Q: is this waterproof or porous?

No, it is not waterproof. As Suzie said, it is perfect for making potholders. It is heat resistant and washable.
