Absolutely incredible.
BE CAREFUL - Everything about these knives feels the way you’d hope they would and you’re not going to want to put them down. The only danger in this is that they are insanely sharp and you can very easily slice your finger if you’re not really paying attention to what you’re doing. We’ve been using them for several months now and don’t have a single complaint about the knives themselves. The chopping block is beautiful but we are noticing a little wear on some of the holes where you slide the knives in - which is to be expected. Overall, we are beyond pleased with this purchase and would recommend to anyone who wants the look, feel, and sharpness of higher end knives, without having to break the bank. Yes, they are more expensive than other sets, but we feel like they are absolutely worth it.

I couldn't tell what knife I wanted
I have very small hands, I couldn't tell what knife I wanted online so I order this z series chef knife and the Series s1 chef knife (both Cangshan). I've never had a good knife set so I had no idea what I would like, I have a cheap set of Fabreware knives that I never really was comfortable with and didn't know why. Now I totally understand. This knife has a rather beveled handle and a small bolster that does not go all the way to the bottom of the blade (which can make it easier to sharpen) The blade is pretty straight (no belly for rocking like the s1) which makes it better for a push style cut. Depending on how you hold your knife makes a huge difference in how it feels. The full bolster on the s1 one makes a good rest for your index finger if you fully grip the handle and don't use a pinch grip on the blade and the balance is awesome. If you do use a pinch grip the balance seems off and a tad heavy for my small hand/fingers but the full bolster lets you choke up more and rest your middle finger. Winds up I like the Z style better, I'm not much of a rocking cut person and the lighter balance on a pinch grip seems better for me. This knife has beautiful craftsmanship and it's honestly worth every penny. After testing both knives I purchased the z series block. I wanted the German steel over the other premium metals Cangshan sells, the German steel is more forgiving, they all need sharpened eventually and the German steel may need it more often but it's much easier to work with. Just make sure you don't leave it lying around somewhere damp and/or dirty. Wash/dry it asap, and dab some oil on it after every use and it will last a very long time.
