I purchased these snake guards as a replacement for similar ones that I have used for six years. We have copperhead and rattle snakes in our area that I want to avoid while working on our wooded acreage. I wear them over steel toe boots. They work well when using power equipment including chainsaw and line trimmer.I am very pleased with the design of these guards and the ease of putting them on. There are inner velcro straps allowing them to be tightened snug against your lower leg before wrapping the outer layer around and buckling. It was always difficult keeping my previous guards tight around my leg while simultaneously trying to buckle them. At times I had to ask my husband to buckle them while I kept them secure. This design keeps the tension off the buckle and keeps them from coming loose while wearing (which was a continuous problem with my older brand). Another excellent feature is the small velcro band on the straps that keep the ends from hanging from your legs.Wearing a snake guard does add some weight to your legs and may seem cumbersome, but these are light enough that I don't have any problem with my balance or walking with them at 70 years of age. No problems with using insect repellent on them to avoid ticks and chiggers.

I found them very easy to use; two years prior I was hunting my land very dense woods. I stumbled upon a copperhead 1'1/2" away from my boot. I bought my first pair to give me the ease of mind while clearing trails, they did great keeping all the sharp thorns, brambles, and others from digging into my jeans and legs. I didn't run into any snakes that trip, but didn't get cut up either. They were durable, didn't slip around. That is why I purchased two more sets for guests. Well done!

Gave them a 4 star rating because they are a bit too stiff. However, I'm confident they will help should and if a snake decides to bite. Also, they are a bit large for my female thinner legs but I'll use them.

I bought these to protect against snake bites, but was also pleased that it protected my lower legs from thorns and other debris that tried to poke my legs. I also took a spill on some rocks and they protects the area that they covered.The quality is top notch. They secure with both Velcro and buckles, and they they were so comfortable to wear that I forgot I had them on. They seem like a durable product that will last for years. I'm glad I purchased these.

I was looking for a pair of snake chaps that I could wear all day and walk long distances in comfort.. For the money, these are outstanding. Easy to put on. They fit well and cover all the areas that need protection. I keep mine a bit loose because I do a lot of scouting and hiking. Occasionally I need to stop and adjust the gaiters to straighten them out. Tightening the straps will fix this issue but I prefer the comfort of loose fitting gaiters when walking long distances.

Purchased these gaiters for working in woody areas of our property where snakes are likely, though we never came across a dangerous snake. We used them an entire spring & summer several times a week and after almost a year they are still in good shape. They are of thick material and they also work well to protect your legs from rocks or debris while using a weed trimmer. Straps on these are adjustable, they are also comfortable. They do get a little sweaty in the hot sun.

I do Habitat work for a living, and these are wonderful for keeping briars from scratching up your legs. However, first day using them, within a couple hours the fabric started coming apart. They fit well and don’t slide around much. Forget they are there, but durability is really lacking.
