Don’t fall for the trend
Ahh I fell for the banana clip TikTok trend, but then remembered banana clips were super faulty back in the 80/90’s and rarely actually used, volume back then came from teasing. Don’t fall for TikTok and these particular banana clip wouldn’t hold a baby’s hair. They’re so tiny and maybe grab 1/4 of my hair, also it’s really difficult to open and close.

Cute look but not so great at keeping hair in
After searching in stores for a clip like this, I was very excited to find this on amazon. I think the clips are a cute way to keep your hair out of your eyes and face as an alternative to a pony tail or bun. The clip gathers your hair into a waterfall kind of look instead of a straight pony tail - sounds weird but its the only way I can think of to describe it. You can wear the clip any way you want - in the back of your head, on the side (for a more elegant look), or even on top of your head if you so desire. However, although I like the look, I stopped wearing the clips after a couple of times because they really do not do a good job of keeping my hair in, I have to constantly re-put in the clip, which gets annoying. I have pretty thick hair, so I imagine that someone with thinner, slicker hair would have even more of a problem with this. Overall, a good, cute clip if you don't mind constantly re-doing your hairdo and/or putting in a lot of bobby pins to keep it in place.

Durable and does the job for thick hair
I’m a black woman who sometimes wears my hair in its natural, unstraightened, thick state. I remembered these from when I was a kid and purchased the to wear a high poofy ponytail. These clips allow the tight ponytail without the use of elastic bands that break the hair. I thought they would be bigger, but they are actually a perfect size.

These cheap little banana clips work perfect for me!
Admittedly, I have very thin hair right now as I have recently had some illness-related hair loss. I remember the big banana clips from the 80's and sported that style for years. As others have said, these are nothing like the old-school banana clips. The plastic is flimsy, brittle, and inflexible and these are only 5 inches long. But at a cost of less than 3 bucks for 4 clips , what do you expect? These work well for my thin, fine, curly hair. They stay put without sliding around and I'm able to pull layers of my hair through from top to bottom and add some fluff and volume to my style. They are extremely comfortable - no pulling or pinching and they're small and flat enough that I can actually sleep in these and feel like I have nothing in my hair - like wearing a loose hair tie. For the price, they are worth trying and I will definitely be ordering more. If you have thin curly hair, you may find these work great for you too!

Not the banana clips that I remember
I was feeling a bit nostalgic when I decided to search the internet for my beloved banana clips I once wore to accent my spiral perm and big bangs as a teenager. I found that Goody still makes the banana clips and decided to purchase them, though I no longer have the spiral perm or big bangs. I received them along with the 7' clips and found them to be fairly flimsy and less durable than the banana clips I once loved. Perhaps demand for the clips made Goody use cheaper ways to make them, but I am not very satisfied with them and have unfortunately set them aside. I guess my dreams of bringing the 80's back will have to wait!

Yeah!
Of course I remember banana clips from the 80's and it's one thing that I was sad to see go out of production. They work great if you have very fine hair and just want to get the whole mess off your neck........and without making you look totally bald! They work just like I remember. Easy to open and close and if you have the hair spread out the way you're supposed to they hold very well.
