Black Diamond Iota Headlamp - Black,One Size

This lamp positively surprised me! I've owned around 5 different headlamps of various quality and this one is by far the best. The build quality is extremely good, everything aligns tightly, the battery indicator is well thought through, the controls are easy to use and intuitive and the light beam is focused enough to light up the road before you and ever so slightly the surroundings.I use this headlamp for running and am very happy with the weight, the battery life and the whole ergonomics. Overall, I highly recommend this one, it is the best headlamp I have ever had.

Best head lamp I've used for light weight backpacking. Light enough you barely notice you're wearing it. Plenty bright enough for hiking and camp chores at night.The charge claims 2-3 hours on bright but I own two Iotas and find they both last several hours on bright. On low it's outlasted all my weekend camping trips so far.One feature not in the manual: You can program it to turn on to the last brightness level, instead of defaulting to 60% brightness. This is a one time configuration, or you can reprogram it to 60% default. So you can lower the brightness to low for example, touch the side of the light to switch to high when you need it, then touch again to return to low. Turn it off at any time, and when you turn it back on it will be at the low setting.See the black diamond web site for a video showing how to program it.

I purchased the Black Diamond Iota headlamp earlier this season. I've been extremely happy with its performance. I like that it features the USB charge option seeing as I always have a portable batter pack to charge my phone and GPS. It's nice not to have to carry extra batteries. It is very bright and stays secure on my head with a variety of headwear. Very comfortable to wear. The headlamp operates for a long time on a single charge (4hrs on max power) and I've never run out of juice during my travels.Check out my video review on my YouTube channel Lone Crow Adventures.

It's good. Stable even when running. Not the brightest, but bright enough for jogging on dark winter nights.

I'm a auto mechanic and I use it daily almost 100% of the time while doing repair work. I had a heavier one before and this light weight one feels so much better. I have two so one will be fully charged at all times. The light beam is very wide which I personally prefer for auto repair, home repair, camping, night walking/hiking, night gardening. Feels way better then my previous heavier one. Charges the internal battery off micro USB. The internal battery in my oldest one is at least 2 years old and is still working fine. I once had it in my pants pocket and my wife ran through the wash. Incredibly it worked immediately with no attempt to dry it first. Tough little headlamp! The weak point is at the tilt hinge. My enraged wife snatched off my head and pitched it on the ground and it broke the hinge on the lamp side. She claims I deserved it. Whatever! Impossible to repair I now use it as a flashlight and I’m saving the strap as a extra.Pros - super light weight and comfortable, wide beam, simple on/off switch “has dimming function”, micro USB charging is fast and easy as compared to swapping batteries all the time.Con - weak point at the hinge. I’ve broke 2 of them at the same spot but that’s by getting thrown on the concrete hard. 5 stars in spite of this. Survived the washing machine!

Needing to replace my ancient & heavy headlamp, I ended up buying this ultralight lamp & couldn’t be more pleased. At 1.8 oz. with a built-in Li-ion battery rechargeable w a USB cord & so small it fits into my palm, it’s perfect for my ultralight backpacking & kayaking trips. The “high beam” & “low beam” settings provide more than adequate light for most any activities. I always carry a small, back up story battery to recharge my phone & now this headlamp, so I don’t have to worry about carrying extra batteries like in the past. I would buy it again & would recommend it to my friends.

I bought this for extra light when detailing small projects, and it's not a perfect fit for that. It doesn't angle down quite enough to shine directly on my project as I am standing at my work bench. I definitely have to tilt my head further down than I would when working without the light, in order to get the light to shine directly on my hands/project.The angles that it does bend seem fantastic for hiking at night while watching your footing, which is I think its main use.

Battery time on package says somewhere between 20 and 4 hours depending on brightness setting, temperature and charge level.These are my 4th type of Black Diamond headlamps. I have primarily used then to navigate the wooded property at night, for camping and repairs. I have had a few go bad because of battery leakage so I wanted to try the rechargeable these offered.The package was mildly frustrating to get them out... hit the power button and was seeing orange for the last part of getting ready to rip it out of the plastic.Power button is easy to operate, better than the swipe version of past.Light is to me a medium small in size, middle ground from my previous models. Headband is also middle ground width for the other BD headlight I have. Comfortable. On bright, it is just a too powerful for campfire conversations or if you have a tendency to look others in the face while talking to them. (This is comfortable at about 50 lumen...) Plenty bright to ride the 4 wheeler up to the mailbox or try and find the opossum crossing through the leaves sounding like 3 drunk people stumbling around.
