Good game. Misleading advertisement.
I'm rating this a 4/5 because I don't want to sink the score on an otherwise good game, but would rate it lower if it had more reviews. The game is good. Very heavy and very thinky. I enjoy the theme, the balancing act, and the strategy. There's a good amount of replay due to all of the variants. My problem with it is that the photo shown for the game is of the 2018 edition of Arkwright which contains factory goods meeples. You can see them advertised in the top right corner of the image they show for the product. What I actually got was the 2016 version of the game without factory goods meeples. You can see on the top right corner of my box that it lacks the symbol and they were not inside upon opening either. This was not a huge deal to me, just disappointing. I considered returning the product, but Amazon offers it a few dollars cheaper than the competition... basically, I didn't think the meeples worth the hassle of getting a refund, mailing the product back, and buying it for a little more elsewhere. But, potential buyers need to be aware that you do not receive the advertised meeples with this product. It's the 2016 version instead.Edit: Amazon has made this issue right for me.

One of the best thought out modern eurogames out there
If you are reading this, you found Arkwright because you already like Food Chain Magnate, and are into heavy board games. You've probably seen Shut Up and Sit Down's review. But you better check the Amazon reviews, just to make sure it's not bad for some reason that SU&SD missed, right?I consider Arkwright to be MUCH nicer than Food Chain Magnate. If you've played FCM, it's a very tactical game. A lot of the game involves looking at the map, building in perfect locations, and finding ways to cover specific areas of the map with ads, and nudging and changing the map slightly. If you all have perfect information, someone who goes first can get an objectively better map position on turn one and be slightly ahead the rest of the game.In Arkwright, there's no map. The way you play your turns and the way the game works is just so wonderfully satisfying. There's no luck - you are all competing to sell products to people, and you either do or do not.The components are fine. There's a lot to set up. But, if you use the standard setup for your first game (I recommend starting with the more difficult version of the game), it makes the game pretty straightforward. Set it up, make sure you understand the action token system, then you are good to teach the game. You'll probably get one or two small things wrong the first game, but it will still be just as good if you make one or two tiny errors.

Heavy excellent game
Excellent game for those who are heavyweight players, enjoy economic euro and don't care about long matches.I received the 2nd Edition. I saw that some people commented that they received the first edition.

Newest edition with goods token. Very satisfied
I may be lucky but the one I received was the newest edition with the goods token. Great price compared to $80 at the Capstone official site. I’m very happy with this purchase!P.S Arkwright is really a FANTASTIC game!!!

This is not the 2018 2nd Edition that is advertised.
This is the 2016 Capstone 1st edition which doesn't include the factory goods tokens. Unfortunately.

Spinning Jenny was a great way to learn.
This game was really fun! I played the Spinning Jenny version with a friend. I’m excited to play the full version.

A heavy game, but brilliantly complex
Arkwright is not a game that's going to appeal to everyone. It's complex and very dense to learn. However, if you crack through it, the game is deeply rewarding and rich. Every tiny action has massive sweeping economic effects and finely balancing the appeal of your goods alongside your share portfolio is genuinely thrilling. If that last sentence doesn't appeal to you, this isn't the game for you. If it does, you'll love it. Breaks instantly into my top 10 games and I've played hundreds.

Complex but a great game
Once all rules have been learnt, and played a couple of times, it's a great game, really worth its value. I recommend go straight for the Water Frame, no point in playing Spinning Jenny or the other versions, takes away most of the challenges and opportunities.
