I’ve got the Gerber version which is similar to the Lancegear. Both have different locking methods for keeping the blade in place. The Gerber version is at first easy but must be treated gently. It’s a more complicated locking system. Whereas the Lancegear is elegantly simple and stable.At first, the Lancegear blade was hard to get on and off, until I put some oil over the locking button / holder. Specifically used Hornady Unique Case Lube. After that the blade goes on and comes off easily. I use this knife everyday.

I love that the blade is SUPER SHARP every time without having to sharpen a regular knife. I have used it for butchering small birds and game as well as field dressing deer. Replacing a blade is very quick and easy, and the included holder keeps the knife and blades really nice. The compact size makes it easy to keep in a pocket.

I really wish I found this knife before I bought my piranha knife. Basically the same dimensions but this knife has rubber grips that make it feel more confident in your hand. It has a lock blade design instead of a side push for closing the blade. It has a pin to push to replace the blade instead of using a pair of pliers or your fingers risking cutting yourself on the piranha. The blades are identical with the small exception of the piranha blades having stainless stamped on them. But definitely a good buy for anyone who likes lightweight sharp knives for fielding animals or processing to pack out in the field.

Bought this as a hunting field dressing knife as well as a chicken dispatching knife. Having used it on a batch of chickens thus far I can say I'm highly impressed. I had some initial questions on blade edge longevity but I was able to dispatch 58 chickens on one blade, and feel like I can use it for more! Blade is super easy to switch over, the 15 extra blades it comes with are right in the carrying case making this a really useful gutting/knife if you are wanting to save on weight in the backcountry, or if you just like to hunt light! Highly recommend and am very excited to use this to gut and skin a deer this fall!
