Once the lid is fully tight its completely leak and spill proof.

It is spill proof. Urine can get into the handle if it is tilted the wrong way, but it can’t come out of the bottle. I did not give this bottle a good review because the cat broke off the very first time it was opened, and it did not glow in the dark
