Great for the money
After reading about the 1st gen of these scopes I didn't have much hope but... I really have the need for a night vision optic where I live as we have a lot of woods around us and some "interesting" neighbors...This thing defied my expectations. No you can't make out fine details, and after 100 yards it gets tricky to start to figure out what you're looking at. It does not make me more handsome, or virile either but those details aside, it's a great value for the money, especially... if you find it on sale. I can easily spot deer bedded down or walking, coyotes, turkey and the occasional two leg mammal out to 100 yards. I have one 300 yard shot to look at and you really have to tweak it to get it to "see" that far out but you can get dots of warmth where you know the deer or whatnot might be. It brings a lot of peace of mind when you're walking around on a moonless night and seeing everything before you're close enough to be considered a threat.

The price and functionality. It works on both ends.
I was happy when I got it. I'm not sure on tge bad reviews. I liked the zoom was a littke Pixelated . I was able to see a mouse run across my yard at 300 ft. I was able to make out deer in my woods at least 200 yards.I think for tge price it is awesome. I can't afford the high end ones . I woukd like to but just to much . I am trying to find out if it can be mounted on a rifle just for target accusations and it won't break if I shoot with it on my rifle.Other than that this is a great product and it will help with people illegally hunting on my property . I will be able to hide and wait for tgem. I hope this helped.

It's like cheating, wont hunt without one.
Bought for a hunting trip in January.Works like a champ. Dont expect to have super detailed images at 100 yds.It will show something is there or walking in. I rested the imager on the ledge of the shooting house I was in, viewer showed entire field, wood line was at 110 yds. It showed thermal images from both sides of the field as the deer walked in, foggy and barely enough light to see the deer through my rifle scope, but it made the hunt alot more effective. Thermal told me where to look. I would scan food plot before walking into stand, scan wood line while walking trail. It's easy to use, white hot worked best for me. Light and compact, and it's a Leupold. Wont hunt without one from now on.

works well when it works
Worked well most of the time. Very simple to use. Beacon mode is great. I could easily identify a person and deer at 200 yards, a small 20lb dog was more of blob at that distance. Problem was, occasionally the screen would get blurry and appear to have two different images misaligned and overlapping each other. This would resolve if i turned it off and back on, but eventually it would happen again. Both the image and the text on the top of the screen would become distorted. The images I have included demonstrate my foot, and what a normal image looks like, and when it has having problems.I contacted Leupold customer service and was told they were not familiar with this problem. Friendly but not very helpful. They offered a free shipping label to take a look at it. Instead, I opted to exchange this with amazon which was very easy and convenient, although sure enough the replacement did the exact same thing. For the $700 price tag I can't overlook this problem anymore and will return it. It makes me concerned of the quality of build and how long it will last after the 2 year warranty. I really wanted to like the LTO tracker 2 HD, but seems I will need to spend a bit more money with a competitor to get something more reliable.

Cant be beat for the price point!
Great, handy, well crafted unit. Boot up is amazingly fast, anyone who has used commercial/civilian thermal/NV, etc knows they can often take a bit to get going. This unit comes on fast and all options within the menu are easy to locate & activate. Unit is very accurate, but clarity looses a star as its simply not the greatest, but certainyl not bad. Thus far the unit has performed flawless.NOTE: for those buying the Tracker II without the included lense covers:'Monstrum' makes flip up covers that work PERFECT for this. You can buy them right here on amazon.31-36mm flip up cover for the objective lense and the 37-42mm flip up cover for the viewer side. Both slide on very securely as if they were made for it, they are sturdy and built to last. Cheap way to safeguard the unit!

Don't order this.
Don't order this.Seriously. I haven't used Thermals since Iraq 15 years ago and I was STILL disappointed. Amazon charged me for the return shipping too which pisses me off further.Look through these for 3 seconds somewhere where it won't cost you and you won't buy them either.Poor field of view, poor effectiveneas, poor performance. Complete disappointment all the way around.Positives: although the instructions are non-existent they are easy to use.Con: you have to cycle through all the settings.Great toy.Useless piece of kit.I used them last night in my woods, Stalked my cat etc.Used them again tonight to confirm they suck. They still suck.I want my $5 back.

Nice, multiple uses.
To start, I'll be taking it out in the field for the first time this weekend. Bought it to use for hunting but also have some other uses for it in between. I take the dog for a walk and it's pitch black for 90% of the route, I enjoy having this with me for checking out my surroundings. Both handy and fun to mess around with it. My only thermal experience is with a Sig Echo1, in comparison this makes my Sig look like garbage... Beacon mode is beyond awesome, I love how I can make out things out to clearly (tree's, signs, etc...) while highlighting what matter so boldly. Should I have blown the money.. of course not... but I don't regret it for once!
