Rubbermaid FastTrack Rail Hardware 40" White Heavy-Duty Steel Durable Organization for Home/Laundry/Bathroom/Mudroom/Pantry/Linen Closet

I bought this because I trust the brand name. I am not sure that it is the best in the market, but since I know they are a reputable company that generally makes good products, I made the decision to buy a number of FastTrack components to better organize my garage. I am extremely pleased with the quality. I should mention that I had previously purchased a Home Depot (HDX) product that left me extremely disappointed with the quality (the plastic warped and everything fell to the ground even though I had gone under the weight and secured well to the wall). I was lucky that my car ws not in the garage at the time of I may have had damage to the car. Because of that, I wanted a better quality product, and I think this product is. The metal frame that offers a number of secure spots to attach to a stud as well as between studs with teh wall anchors feels really sturdy and secure. I will buy a number of other rails, shelves and attachments as I finish out the garage organization project.. The one thing that Rubbermaid could do, in my opinion, is create even more accessory add-ons, a peg board wall kind of thing to store tools securely. I did not buy the cabinet that is available because it does not look like good quality to me.

I was reusing elfa shelving and found this header track to be very compatible with my existing elfa hardware

This beam helps with structural support but more so it helps with leveling your upright tracks. As long as this J track is level, you're upright tracks will be level in even for your shelving. Just make sure you're up right tracks have notches in them for hanging on the Jay track because not all of them do

I ordered two of these, both arrived fine in a square cardboard box (no packing material). I found the 40" was a bit short, could have used 48" to cover 3 studs in the wall. This did not include any screws to mount to wall, just the wall rail/plate, no instructions. I had to go purchase screws and google how to install.

Quick and easy setup

Pros: this rail is very sturdy and is compatible with the rest of the Rubbermaid system.Cons: there aren’t enough pre-drilled holes to mount to studs. I had to drill my own (would recommend clamping the rail to a workbench) and then had to use a hack saw to cut off about 5” so that it could fit into my closet. There’s another Rubbermaid rail that Amazon sells which has way more pre-drilled holes. Only buy this one if you’re comfortable drilling holes into metal.
