Very Useful Book
I need to use Camtasia at work. I looked for an instruction book, and found that this is really the only choice available. Fortunately, Daniel Park did a great job writing it. It covers the program in great detail. It's written in a very conversational style. For example, these lines are taken from page 19 and 20:"And here's another blow to the prescriptivists: Whether doing stand-up technical trainings or writing documentation, I generally find it preferable to address the learner in an informal, conversational tone. In this book (and in other manuals I've constructed), I tend to write like I talk, which I believe makes the text a lot more approachable. But it also means that I freely start sentences with conjunctions, end them with prepositions, and occasionally make use of puns and other corny humor that some may find off-putting. If these sorts of things bother you, then you are more than welcome to go write your own book. . ."Although I have not yet read the entire book from cover to cover, I've read enough to know that he obviously understands the program very well, and he is a talented enough writer to be able to entertainingly share his information with the reader. Here's a list of the Chapters:Unit I: General Introduction Chapter 1 - Introduction to Camtasia Studio Chapter 2 - About This BookUnit II: Prep-work: What to Do before Making Your First Recording Chapter 3 - Quick and Dirty Curriculum Design Chapter 4 - Scripting and StoryboardingUnit III: Recording with Camtasia Studio Chapter 5 - Recording Your Screen Chapter 6 - Special Effects of the Camtasia Recorder Chapter 7 - Recorder Tools Options Chapter 8 - Recording Your PowerPoint PresentationUnit IV: Editing within Camtasia Studio Chapter 9 - Working with Camtasia Studio Chapter 10 - Working with Other Media: Audio, PIP, and Title Clips Chapter 11 - Editing EffectsUnit V: Sharing Your Videos with Others Chapter 12 - The Production Process Chapter 13 - CD-based Videos with Camtasia MenuMaker Chapter 14 - Web-based Videos with Camtasia Theater Chapter 15 - Other Output Options Chapter 16 - Post-Production CustomizationAppendix A - Tips for Reducing Your File SizeAppendix B - Recording Alternative PlatformsAppendix C - Equipment Buyer's GuideAppendix D - Getting Additional HelpIf you are interested in learning Camtasia Studio 6, then I highly recommend you buy this book. A little overwhelming
This book is addressed to the audio-visual professional. I'm just trying to create a Power Point presentation with narration that can be shared on our website or on YouTube. While certainly helpful, much of the book is beyond our capabilities or interests. Of course, Camtasia Studio 6 is complex software, which this book addressed in detail. In this case, I needed a "Camtasia for Dummies".

Decent Complement to TechSmith's Documentation
What I found most useful were the links to other products that extend and/or enhance the core Camtasia Studio product. The rest of the content pretty much mirrors TechSmith's own documentation, but it is well written and thoughtfully laid out. Barring the other useful links you can learn to use Camtasia Studio by using the online documentation and web tutorials from TechSmith.

Excellent guide
This guide provides a means for not only orienting you toward the features of the product and how best to use them, but provides a logical sequence for getting ramped up on your project and getting underway.I found this guide to be invaluable and would recommend it to anyone using Camtasia 6.0.

Camtasia 6 Review
As usual, this is the definitive guide for a complex product. I have used Mr. Park's books since beginning to use Camtasia at the version 3 level. I would recommend this to beginners and experience users alike.

An excellent way to start with Camtasia
As is common with a lot of software these days, Camtasia comes with extensive on line documentation and tutorials. But there are some of us, old fashioned perhaps, who still like to have a manual printed on paper. This book is a good example of how a computer manual should be written. While it covers everything the software will do, it also gives you some personalized hints and tips that go beyond the raw software to tell you what the author has discovered through his own trial and error to come up with the best ways to do things.Mr. Park spent some years actually working for the Camtasia developers using the product to develop sales and training packages. Subsequently he left the company to start his own and can talk about the product as he sees it instead of having to keep the company president happy.Mr. Park further has an interesting writing style. As he says, he writes like he talks, not necessarily with the best possible English, indeed sometimes with improper sentence structure. Whatever the reason, I found his writing style to be quite a bit more entertaining than the standard computer manual. If you need to learn Camtasia, here's an excellent way to start.

Camtasia Studio 6
Camtasia Studio is a product that I have used for several years now and heartily recommend to anyone who is interested in producing screen recording based training material based on demonstrating user interaction with any PC application. This is a superb application for producing 'How To' tutorials. I use Camtasia Studio to build tutorials for IT support associated with research projects.I cut my teeth with Camtasia Studio 5 and realised that there were aspects to the application that I was just not maximising. Shortly after I upgraded to Camtasia Studio 6 I decided to spend some more cash and improve my skills with the Camtasia Studio application, so after a search of the available books, settled on this one because it promised to explain how to get the best out of the Camtasia Studio application and thus improve the production of video for streaming media tutorials. This book takes you from absolute beginner level to fairly advanced media presentation skills. Having already used the product before I purchased the book I was able to skip through the early chapters but I have not been disapointed and I have been able to hone my existing skills and master new techniques that have been equally applicable to the more recent version 7 of Camtasia Studio that I now use.Techsmith, the producers of Camtasia Studio make available some excellent training videos for how to get the best out of the product, but there is always that time when you quickly need to look up a reference for a process, usually in the middle of producing your own project. This is why I like to have this handbook available, sometimes its just plain faster to look something up in the book rather than search for the right product tutorial on the Techsmith web site. One point though, Camtasia Studio is a constantly evolving product and many of the features in version 7.1 are not covered in this book, so keep this in mind if you are just starting with Camtasia Studio. If you want to master the basics though, this book will serve you just fine.

Screencasting leicht gemacht
